  1. Thanks Roch for posting this album! I found it at Klicktrack.com at a very good price. Lawo Classics : The Steimeyer Organ in Nidaros Cathedral In fact they have several different resolutions from 24/96 FLAC to Multichannel DSD64 (5.1) at the same price of $22.00 USD. I'm tempted to buy the 5.1 but have never heard of this company. Is anyone here familiar with it and do they seem trustworthy? Thanks, Rod
  2. Is this the HD Tracks download of Der Ring des Nibelungen being discussed? https://www.hdtracks.com/index.php?file=catalogdetail&valbum_code=HD00028945555621 Thanks, Rod
  3. Congratulations on your SQ improvement. It might be helpful to others here if you would post the changes you made. Sorry I cant help on your conversion problem. If no luck getting an answer here you might try posting on the very helpful JRiver Forum. (Chris, hope you don't mind my making that suggestion.) Rod
  4. And another VERY useful feeature of Loopback is the ability to feed REW (Room Equalization Wizard) Pink Noise Sweeps through MC. That way any DSP, Room Correction, Etc that one has set in MC are included in the REW measurements. Thanks JRiver! Rod
  5. Mitchco and elcorso, Thanks very much for the information above on proxy servers. Rod
  6. I recently wanted to buy a DL from Linn, but their site said that they could not sell that music to my location which is in Canada. So I looked into getting a free IP Proxy in an area that Linn could sell that particular music. As I was researching the proxies I came across some sites that suggested a lot of the proxy servers, especially the free ones, could be very dangerous security wise. Since financial institutions will be involved in the transaction that whole approach got really scary and I gave up on it. Are there some here that might have good information on the use of proxy servers re security? Thanks, Rod
  7. I would expect a poll on the JRiver Forum to result in not much interest in a MAC version. It's a Forum of users of Windows systems. There would probably be a more realistic sampling with a poll done here, except I sense this forum is fairly MAC centric. Regardless, I would be very surprised if JRiver could justify the expense of the rewrite and maintenance for a MAC version. Rod
  8. Did you try the Parametric EQ in JRiver MC17? Tools, Options, Audio, Settings/DSP & Output format, Parametric Equalizer, Add, Adjust a Frequency. Set the frequency for the center of your notch. Adjust Gain and Bandwidth for desired results. Do you have REW or other measurement software to observe the results? There are also many free VST plugins that work with JRiver. Some will probably have true notch filters. Good luck. Rod
  9. I believe this is the correct link for the JRemote thread: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=68491.0 Rod
  10. I haven't heard this version from Hi Def Tape Transfers http://www.highdeftapetransfers.com/product/1561/Holst-the-planets-conducted-by-Adrian-Boult-Vienna-Academy-Chorus-Vienna-State-Opera-Orch but perhaps someone else here has. It's available in 24/96 FLAC download. Keep in mind that their products are from original reel to reel (?) tapes from the 60s & 70s. Rod
  11. I just got our system going with DAC outs straight to power amps and love the SQ. We have a new Asus Essence ST internal soundcard with H6 daughter card which provides 8 channels. It is feeding a variety of power amps. Each amp has it's own gain control and master volume is handled by JRiver MC15's excellent digital volume control. Now I know that internal soundcards and HT systems are not popular on this forum. Ours is a 5.1 system with 2.1 automatically selected by JRiver MC15 for stereo sources. So we can get great Stereo critical listening and HT all with the same system and no receiver! The quality of the Essence ST card has been pleasantly surprising. With our Klipschorn mains and Danley DTS-10 sub we are essentially flat from 11 hz to 20khz. And this can be at insanely high levels (still clean) if desired. There are many ways to solve the puzzles. Rod
  12. Have you posted about this problem on the JRiver MC15 Thread? That's their main support and usually someone should help? I recall reading here on the huge thread about the EMU-0404USB on a Beer Budget that Joel was having this problem occasionally. When he used Flac all was okay I believe. I have an EMU-0404USB and have all my music files in FLAC only and have never had a problem in MC14 or 15 Good luck, Rod PS I share in your frustration with the MC15 documentation.
  13. Check out JRiver Media Center 15. It's one of the finest for audio and extremely flexible. Sometimes a little confusing to set up, but well worth it. They have a very helpful forum too. I'm pretty sure that it works well with Windows 7. Good luck. Rod
  14. I have been considering joining and have been a little confused as to just what I get. I understand that included will be 2 albums of their choosing/month. If one only liked half of their choices, that alone seems like a pretty good deal. They then state that members have "Access" to their complete collection. Is this at no extra charge? Does it include all the music they show on their website. If the answers are yes and yes this seems like a screaming good deal - especially for the first year. Even if one only likes a few of their existing choices it still has to be a great bargain. And as others have said perhaps I'll get enlightened with something other than my usual tastes. Rod
  15. Every time I see the new CA I think something is broken - either in my computer, or at your site. Where the heck is the color??? I guess we are so accustomed to lots of color on web pages that when it's missing something really seems wrong. It is very stark. And I must admit, also a disappointment. Your old site and its pleasing blue was one of my favorite forums for appearance - and of course for content! Other than that I sure do enjoy and appreciate CA. Thanks for all your efforts Chris. Rod
