  1. For a bit more detail and clarity what is states is..... "No, currently the NP30 or Stream Magic 6 does not support gapless playback. This is not something we claim to have, but actually is something we are working on. It is technically quite hard to do, and so will take us a little time." So this could be a firmware upgrade. coincidentally i looked at the support page which has an interesting pdf on the use of drivers class 1/2 usb modes, and what cambridge audio feel necessary for using with this product. (see attached)
  2. Im a Poet, artisan of various crafts, tattoo artist of Asian design. Im an informal scientist of thought and in seeking Fact. I love Surfing, technology and occupy as much time as possible with these also. Apart from that i retired from work at the age of 27. I realised at 25 that work was going to stop me from living life as i wanted, so i have internet business's to provide income. Life should not be inconvenienced at the necessity of work, but lived truly as the things you love to do. I have built my own house, learnt various vernacular building techniques and hope to enjoy more and more new skills as i come to them in the future.
  3. http://www.cambridgeaudio.com/summary.php?PID=952 This is the product page for the new streamer, i think it is safe to say somewhere between pioneer n50 and naim uniqute/ ND5 XS. Amp control, remote app for both android and apple, and 24/192 are the things interest me. Plus its about 1/2 the price of the naim uniqute. Id love to hear someones thoughts if anyone has had the opportunity to get hands on one?
  4. http://www.cambridgeaudio.com/press_releases.php?PRID=54&Title=Stream+Magic+6+adds+even+greater+audio+quality+and+functionality+to+Cambridge+Audio%92s+award-winning+network+music+platform This reads interestingly that apple will be 24/192 and windows will be with a downloadable software from their site. Also volume control can be sent headless with thier new software, as is standard but can aso send to same make amps. The unitcan also be turned off and on. So, when will it be released? Better than sonos?
  5. Would someone be kind enough to take a photo as these are very intriguing to me, and i know i have no skills to fulfil this, so a view inside would make me very happy. Best regards As a side note is there a book one can read to understand what it might take to make diy gear as it looks far more interesting then buying something already made.
  6. I live in Thailand, we have sun without much cloud. I was thinking about getting pv solar for my lights as they are led some 12v some 240v. As people seem to suggest improvements from battery i was inclined to answer, what about solar and how would this intergrate within a system safely? Thank you for everyones quick response, could someone kindly explain what the right implementation is, i have no equipment so far as im building a house and nearly finished. Im open source for most electronics, im interested in m2tech evo, dac a mac mini or similar pc but can start from anywhere, point, piece as people recommend. Many thanks.
  7. Just because something is true, factual, intellectually stimulating or similar doesnt mean that people will be interested in it juf, pop music confirms this. However testing and understanding are inperitive to the reasoning of music purchases, downloads and ripping techniques, and the thread bearer has out performed the effort a hundred fold and so you need saluting, or handshaking, or whatever the digital appreciation of some kind would be. I think tom petty is good, i think in 5.1 hd hes even better, clearly improving sound quality production and making it available is a good thing. If you have oscillators and spectrum analyis machines you are ten to the power of 1 of cool. Music companies however are slow burning fat hats and care not but for the wedge in their pocket, and are not in touch with reality, technology or a good business model.
  8. Hi, i am in a privileged position that i live in a place that gets a lot of sun, and where solar pv is getting cheaper. My question is will this eco friendly power also improve my sound quality? The thinking is that non mains connected, battery supply should have some affect on mains but good or bad im just unsure. Thank you for anypersons input?
  9. This makes sense for the companies and not the user, protection is one thing but clearly the music industry wont make higher quality formats possible at a price where we dont need to buy the cd, its really the failure of yhe format against demand and technology. Then of course you get this illegal behaviour right or wrong. Lets see an update to the problem and achieve a level basis for consumers of audio. If noone is bothered to also include this right wrong legal or illegal people will continue to do so. Its the music industries fault they can let a musician piece be copied by some deeadfil pop singer because they have the greed to do so, but wont extend thr same service to consumers. living in fear they wont make money. copyright should be adhered most normal moral adults do this, but something gas to change with the service otherwise people will continue to exhibit a tendacy to steal. i dont have any internet music i stream from services or cd.
  10. No i dont think you get it i wasnt posting a thread to find about what you wanted and clearly you're not that bothered in entering a conversation that doesnt involve you saying anything for any reason to eleviate what i am looking for and the post is concentrating on. Normal routers?? Dual band routers allow devices to be run of the different spectrums so my computers wont fight for the same spectrum as my sonos, for example. As i pointed out to you although you seem to have a fairly good practise for ignoring, all bandwidth after that is the same for any device. This was NOT my problem with logitech though, if you read what i write. 6 is no where near enough, and more to the point the devices are not good enough from my personal impression when i had used them. So maybe conceed that just because you have, want feel the need to say something, there is really no need for you to do so, unless in line with the thread. Thanks.
  11. It also doesnt do 24bit 192 which is what i posted in the original post. Plus the title describes what i was getting at (sonos) and logitech and slimservers are simply not the same, as demonstrated above. Indeed these are clearly the documented selling points as the difference between these systems. I wouldnt mind a transporter scaled down though. So hows that for a compromise?
  12. I dont really get what your saying? That would be the same with any system depending on how many units in total shared the total bandwidth. However a simple dual band router where you split devices in to what is propriety or not would solve the spectrum issue. However so would ethernet connection, which is what ideally you should do, and i do, to get best performance. However the connection of the remote to the unit and the software, which is what im talking about, plus the fact that sonos is the only one capable of multi room to the extent of which more than 3 devices can be competantly run without glitch. I have had 10 sonos devices working all togteher and independantly, as well as internet and never found any issues to your puzzling query, it following the above advice.
  13. Sonos connects to its own wireless infrastructure, because of this in theory you could keep adding many before any problems came into play if any. Logitech its about 3, so its not quite the same. Yes your player did work, mine did not, and consequently because of its complicated nature of connecting to remote and server i wanted something more intuitive like sonos. Of course i could have tried many to get one that worked but i knew a lot of people who experienced difficulty with the machine, whilst workable i dont want to waste time messing with system but to play music. Ihave no oroblem putting time in at the star to get almost flawless payback, but not want to have to reconnect every other day. Thanks for your comment though, i was hoping they might bring a scaled down transporter into play, but it looks like cambridge audio migt be the next best thing. Cheers
  14. Thanks....no i meant not as terrible ,annoying and impossible to network like logitech. im not talking about my inabilities with networks either, all the logitech i had would disconnect and have problems all my computers, laptops sonos bluray tv did not. Thanks anyway for the help. Update. I realised now that when writing this of course this was wirelessly connecred i could solve that problem with a wired connection. However the logitech isnt as intuitive with the software and remote you can not connect more than 3 i believe in the same way as sonos with implicating the network to slow. Amongst other things.
  15. Its alright Cambridge audio do the stream magic 6 24bit 96k without driver 192k with free driver on website. async usb xlr output et all and remote controlled too.
