I am excited about the potential availability of high quality recordings. However, the role of DSD is still confusing. On reading Emil Berliner Studios history, after conducting a rigorous test they claim there is no difference in listener experience between PCM and DSD recorded music (http://www.emil-berliner-studios.com/en/chronik5.htm). i.e. DSD or PCM from the microphone onwards. However, in their facebook thread (https://www.facebook.com/emilberlinerstudios) the studio seemed to claim that, going from analogue recorded then to DSD, was worthwhile.
