  1. Good to know. When I did my testing on TH1 it was a complete disaster. I'm looking forward to structuring diskless win10 thin clients via linux. Will give it another shot when time allows. Great thread.
  2. well thats if you're using windows server. i was kinda planning on using linux.
  3. Hey been a while since I last visited. Has RS1 relaxed iscsi network driver requirements? I remember the driverstore being very difficult to modify so that I can deploy one disk with win10 preinstalled for use across many machines.
  4. Yes I used macrium via winpe to clone the local disk which resulted in "preparing automatic repair" upon direct boot to iscsi block device. (clones fine for local disk clones)
  5. I've found it impossible to do a clean install of windows directly onto the iscsi volume. i get a different error, i forgot what it was and then read somewhere ... well iPXE problems with iSCSI Boot and Windows that win 10 iscsi direct installs dont work. If this is actually possible i'd be pleased. While I've not recently tried win7 installs, the last time I did it (similar process), it worked correctly.
  6. scan, im trying to setup something similar to your except instead of using a win server, i use a linux server + scst (as iscsi target) + lvm block device. instead of using disk2vhd, i use macrium to clone to the block device. upon initial boot up to the iscsi san, it gives me "preparing automatic repair" ive no idea whats going on. i dont think its bcd because i can enter windows 10 recovery, load command prompt and see the disks connected (system reserved @ drive c) and root disk @ drive d
  7. Hi, I'd begin by saying I'm an audionewbie or audiomoron, whichever relevant. I've just scattered the ashes of my X-FI XtremeMusic and it's time to look for a descendant. Current setup: Logitech Z-5300 (5.1 -- There's a mode to make it 2.1 and that's fine I guess since I don't require sounds coming from the rear) Realtek Onboard Audio (Replacing the X-Fi temporarily, and the X-Fi sounded way better) Usage: Music, a lot of lossless audio (40's jazz, classical, retro) Movies (stereo will do) Minimal gaming (stereo will do) Budget: ~$150 (to begin with) I want sound to sound better in looking for a replacement. The Realtek is unacceptable. I have a speaker setup and I'd like to stick with speakers than headphones. I've been gathered information for days and it'd be the first time I've heard of DACs. For ~US$150 what are my options to cover my needs? I do not need extremely perfect audio as if I'm a professional listener, but perhaps something better than the Asus Xonar or Creative X-Fi Titanium might be nice. From what I've gathered, ideally I'd have: Audioengine D1 Premium (I begin with this) M2Tech HiFace2 (enters wishlist) Audioengine A5+ Speakers (enters wishlist) Is the HiFace2 compatible with the Audioengine D1? Should I be looking at another product? Thanks in advance.
