  1. Hey quick question ... I hvae a macmini feeding a schiit bifrost I have files ranging from Mp3crap to 16/44 from ripped redbook to 24/192 from hdtracks . The bifrost does not upsample... What it sees is what it plays. So what happens in the following situations? (apple had NO idea what i was talking about) 1. I have the usb or optical digital output on the mini set to 16/44 and i play a higher res file? 2. I have the usb or optical digital output on the mini set to 24/96 or 24/192 and play a 16/44 file? What signal does my DAC see? Thanks for your help with this.
  2. <br /> jim and/or Chris ... Not sure you guys are still watching this thread but here's a simple question:<br /> <br /> "... Sound ripped from my CDs is better than any CD player at any price..."<br /> <br /> Why?
  3. Maybe the answer to this question is somewhere in this (or another) thread that i cant find BUT. Does anyone know where hdtracks actually gets there "hd" tracks? Do they ADC master tapes, upsample redbook? Where? If they start with a digital source, They're bit depth and SR cant be any better than the original unless they upsample. (which i think adds nothing). If they start with an analogue source which, while it has limited dynamic range, has infinite bit depth and SR ... It will still only be as good as the master ... You cant CREATE information thats not there to begin with! Sooooooo .... Where do they get the hi-res stuff ... Maybe THATS the real problem.
