    I am also considering building the following powered speaker system with airplay to stream Lossless files from iTunes. Audioengine A5 powered speakers ($300 amazon) Audioengine D1 DAC ($170) AirPort Express ($100) The main reason I like the A5 speakers (now discontinued) is because the D1 DAC and AirPort attach and are powered directly on the speaker This means I only have one power cord to plug in. Here are the cables I would need: Optical toslink with one mini connection (AirPort to DAC) RCA to mini cable (DAC to speaker) USB to mini USB (DAC power, going to use the included cable) My plan for cables was to buy a 1 meter optical toslink on Amazon and pick up a RCA to mini interconnect. Should I invest more in the cables?
