  1. I'm aware that you need a wired connection for the Marantz. I don't have the router near where my Marantz is, so I plugged the ethernet cable into my laptop and created a bridge so it could access the wireless network. I was able to listen to internet radio stations this way, however it would not recognize any media servers in the network. Correct, the PS3 now sees my computer because I am using the Asset UPnP software. When I build my HTPC I prefer not to use any of Marantz's network features. Do you know if I have a HDMI cable coming out of a graphics card it will be able to carry audio as well as video? It seems like the video card will only be able to output video and I would have to run a separate audio cable to my receiver.
  2. I downloaded and installed the Asset software and I still was not able to get the Marantz to recognize my computer as a media server. However, I am able to get my PS3 to recognize my computer now! It is hooked up to my Marantz via HDMI. It sounds good, however every few seconds the music will stop. At times it's worse (more often, longer pauses) than others. I do not know what's causing this, maybe my network connection is too slow to stream FLAC wirelessly and it's buffering? I'll be looking at adapters for my usb too if that will let me play any audio that would be normally coming out of pc speakers over my home system. This is going to be a temporary solution because I'm going to be building a dedicated HTPC. I haven't built a PC in a long time, is it possible to get the video and audio output from the PC both over the same HDMI cable?
  3. I have a eSATA/USB and a Firewire output. There is also an oval outlet, I'm not sure what it does as it's not labeled.
  4. Unfortunately I bought it online, so having a dealer set it up isn't really an option. I don't have a wired connection near my receiver, so I plugged it into my laptop and used it as a bridge connecting through the wireless internet. Will I be able to stream Spotify through Asset? I'd rather use Pandora and Spotify through my computer rather than the clunky and slow Marantz GUI. The internet radio sucks bad. Even the "HD" channels are in 128kbps.
  5. I recently got into the audiophile world. I bought B&W CM7s and a Marantz SR5006. I have some FLAC files on my computer, however I will be doing a lot of streaming from Spotify premium. I know it's not bit perfect, however it is very convenient and 320kbps is good enough for me. If I really enjoy some music I find on Spotify I'll probably try to find the FLAC files. Eventually I am going to build a HTPC for both music and movies using the TV as a monitor. I originally planned on running a usb cable from my computer to the receiver and using the receiver's dac. When I do, the receiver isn't recognized by my computer, and my computer isn't recognized by the receiver. I looked through the Marantz user manual and found that the usb port is for iPod connection and is not compatible with computer connections. Then I tried to set up my computer as a media server using the network connection in the Marantz and my computer isn't recognized. There must be a way to do this but I'm lost. I want all audio played by my computer to go to the speakers I bought. All I'm looking for the Marantz to do is be the dac and amplifier. Any help would be appreciated, thanks! *edit: I don't own any Apple products so Airplay isn't an option. Maybe Bluetooth?
