I listen to music exclusively through a PC that streams FLAC's off a server. I've been trying to figure out tweaks here and there to help bring the most out of some new Klipsch Quartets. The system is hooked up to a home theater so I have some limitations, namely I do not want to switch to a stereo amp as I don't have preouts. Here's my current gear:
sound output: m-audio audiophile 2496 digital coax
receiver: denon avr 1911 (90w on all 7 channels)
speakers: klipsch quartets (front) kg2s (rear) klf-c7 (center)
sub: hsu research vtf-2
software: foobar2000/J River w/ ASIO
I've thought about getting an external DAC, but there are a few issues.
1) knocks out denon audyssey
2) without spending a pile of cash there may be limited benefits
The mid-range denon is plenty loud and has all the features I need. But how does its sound quality compare to its more expensive brothers?
