  1. Thanks for the info. I really do need to get a headphone amp. Can't wait to fill the "pending" to an actual amp.
  2. Souptin, The plan is to get a headphone amp/dac. I'm going to put out a requisition for one when father's day comes around. Until then, I want to find a relatively cheap alternative since it will be getting replaced. The A5's don't have a headphone out. I think the new ones, A5+ possibly might. I have one of those 3.5mm male to female extenders some where. That's a free solution! Thanks for replying. T
  3. ccclapp: The A5s are powered. I'll take a look at a level switch. Thanks for the tips.
  4. Hello everyone. This is my first post. Hopefully this isn't too much of a noob question to post. I have a mid 2011 iMac. Currently, I have a pair of Audioengine A5 speakers connected to the audio out mini jack. I also just bought some DT990 250ohm headphones to listen to music at night without keeping the kids up. Is there a good or proper way to split the audio coming out of the headphone jack in the back of the iMac so sound can come out of the speakers and the headphones at the same? I guess another way of putting it is, I'd like to switch between listening to the speakers and the headphones without physically unplugging one output and plugging in a different one. Is it as simple as putting in a Y connector? Thanks for any input.
