  1. I will try to describe it (on USB 2.0 async connection, only on PCM files). I have Benchmark DAC too and Mytek sounds little better, Benchmark sounds more muddy and messy, Mytek have little more details and better bass, but there is one drawback, Mytek sounds just little dryier... Anyway Mytek is just more plesurable to listen than Benchmark. I would love to compare it to Anedio, but it is immposible to get it in Europe.
  2. I'm engineer and I desing electornics too, so I will continue with some QA for Mytek... If you don't like it, just ignore me. I returning mine this week and I will no longer polute this gigantic "how to get DSD working" thread. Last info on "cut trace" issue. There 8 cut traces like that: one reset line (+wire) mentioned before, ugliest big one near 3.3V regulator (+wire) and six more when six resisitors were added on PGA2310 control buses. Also I'm getting lots of problems on toslink connection, looks like contector is badly designed, only one cable of three is working, one doesn't work at all, and one is working when I pull it a little, but then is loose. Also when turning on Mytek on USB2 connection, Mytek will not work and be detected, I need to replug USB cable. I think also every few minutes of playback I'm getting small and quiet crack on USB2 connection, looks like it desynchronizes for a few miliseconds. and now to firewire and DSD testing...
  3. Sadly Mytek manufacture quality is pretty low: http://audiohobby.pl/db/topics/b92dc3f71b.jpg There are more "fixes" like this inside. Anyway, even with cheap chinese capcitors Mytek sounds pretty good so far, so please Mytek, fix quality, you are not helping with stereotypical Polish bad quality (vs Swiss best quality). btw. If you were wondering how volume control is done, I think Mytek is using PGA2310 chips. Also for unknown reason (I thought ESS DAC has this implemented upsampler inside) separate upsampler chip AD1986.
  4. Oh, I'm dumb f*ck... volume trim is only "visual"...
  5. If I set internal volume to -40dB, I'm getting -18dB signal on XLR output and -22dB with trim set do -14dB. I wish I could set it somehow so -40dB is really -40dB... Can you explain me better for what is "volume trim" for and how it works (there maybe should be better description about it in "signal flow" chart in manual) and why it have such a small range?
  6. DAC sounds very nice so far, but quick question about internals. Why such an expensive equipment is using cheap chinese capacitors in power supply (Jamicon)? I want my equipment to last longer than a year, or two, why is not using at least Nippon LXY, or Panasonic FC?
