  1. RE My Network (on Oppo 103) - if it's 'Off' then I can't access the Oppo via 'Network' in Windows Explorer, which seems to block the rest of the process.
  2. Following up. Disabled My Network as per One and a Half above (Autoplay and AutoResume were already off). Still no luck. D***!
  3. Mmm. I did mention turning off AutoPlay actually. I will check and try turning off MY Network. Thanks.
  4. Firstly, apologies for the length of this post. In desperation I am being completely exhaustive about my process, in the hope that somebody can spot the fatal flaw. I am reasonably adept at low level technological manipulation – but not at all familiar with networking. This is my second serious attempt to get this to work – regular followers of this thread may remember my previous attempts. My Oppo 103 is hardwired into my LAN. I have manually set the IP address (192.1 68.1.116), turned off Auto Play and Auto Resume. I opened the command prompt on my computer (Windows 10, 64-bit, latest update), and pinged the Oppo player – successfully. I opened Network within Windows Explorer, and confirmed that the Oppo player appeared under media devices, and that the IP address was correct. I opened the relevant dropbox, and downloaded the contents of both the AutoScript and sacd_extract folders. (I tried downloading them both to my dropbox account, and directly, just in case. But (as expected) when I checked the contents they were identical, and as specified in the instructions.) I prepared an 8 GB USB stick: used Bootice to create a new MBR, and then formatted the drive to FAT32. (I’m not sure whether the MBR is really necessary, but by now I was ready to try anything). I then created an AutoScript folder, and put the three files that I had downloaded into that folder. I created a new 5ACD folder on the D drive of my computer (560 GB free), into which I placed iso2dsd_gui.exe; sacd_extract.exe and sacd.cmd. I opened sacd.cmd in notebook and modified the IP address to 192.168.1.116 to correspond to the IP address of the Oppo player, and saved it. Now it reads: sacd_extract -i 192.168.1.116:2002 -P -I I ran iso2dsd_gui.exe as an administrator, and selected server input, modified the IP address/port to read 192.168.1.116:2002; selected dual channel mode and Sony DSF output mode. Leaving ISO2DSD open on my computer, I went to my Oppo player. I turned it off, then turned it on again. I inserted the USB stick, and after a couple of seconds the tray opened. I put an SACD disc in (in fact I tried a number of them to check whether there was a problem with a particular disc); both extracted/did not extract the USB stick; closed the drawer; observed the display go to SACD, and then HOME MENU. [I wondered whether going to HOME MENU is a sign that something hasn’t worked?] I went back to my computer and clicked on ‘execute’ within the ISO2DSD program. The execute button greyed out for a couple of seconds, and then came back on. Nothing was ripped. So I tried clicking on sacd.cmd within D:\5ACD. A command window opens with the appropriate instruction D:\5ACD> sacd_extract -i 192.168.1.116:2002 -P -I and almost immediately a window opens saying that sacd_extract.exe has stopped working A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. So now I am at a loss – no idea what to try next. Any thoughts? By the way: I do notice that if I push play on the Oppo, the disc plays. Is this correct? I thought that perhaps the operating system for the Oppo would have been replaced temporarily by the auto script files, and that this shouldn’t work – but I have no idea. Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this, and running it through your brain cells.
  5. Hi Phthlocyanine. Thanks for that. I've just confirmed that I have the first one, 'that seems to be working fine for some CA Oppo users' - see below. So it would seem that I have managed to download the correct AutoScript. So, is it possible I've mixed up the sacd_extract.exe files? I notice that I have at least three different ones. In my current setup there is 1. a 345 KB file created on 18/02/2018 on the USB stick; 2. another at 951 KB created on 29/12/2018 which sits in the sacd_extract folder in the root drive of my computer, and is (presumably) referred to by the sacd.cmd in the same folder; and 3. another of 1,073 KB, created on 29/07/2018, which sits in the same folder as the iso2dsd_gui.exe program file. Is this how is should be? AUTOSCRIPT #MTKAT 0.xx script CLI(CLI_exec cp /mnt/sda1/AutoScript/sacd_extract /) CLI(CLI_exec /sacd_extract -S &) CLI(CLI_drv.ir.rx.sq 0xaf000)
  6. I've got an Oppo 103 - though it's been modified for region free play here in Australia, and perhaps this is a factor.
  7. Hi Gregavi - any way of defining 'correct' files? I don't mean this cynically - e.g. could you somehow point me to the exact files you use? thanks.
  8. ISO2DSD doesn't work in my situation either. Opened the Firewall, and specifically allowed iso2dsd_gui.exe and the version of sacd_extract.exe in that folder through the firewall. (BTW - why is this sacd_extract.exe different to the one you put on the USB stick, and the one you use with sacd.cmd?) Ran iso2dsd_gui.exe, with correct ip address. Get Failed to connect libsacdread: Can't open 192.168.1.16:2002 for reading Feel like I'm just thrashing around in the dark now. Anybody got a flashlight?
  9. When I turned the Oppo on today it changed ip address, so I've changed that where necessary. I will make it static next attempt. Problems seem to be at the computer end as far as I can tell - the Oppo drawer opens when I put my new 4Gb USB stick in (previously using 32Gb, but following above recommendation I dug out an old 4Gb stick and set that up). I can ping the new address. I went through the whole telnet rigmarole despite debate above, with the following outcomes: Microsoft Telnet> o 192.168.1.16 Connecting To 192.168.1.16...Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed Microsoft Telnet> o 192.168.1.16 110 Connecting To 192.168.1.16...Could not open connection to the host, on port 110: Connect failed Microsoft Telnet> o 192.168.1.16 2002 Connecting To 192.168.1.16... [Has been sitting on this for 20 minutes - no action ??? Eventually I closed it down.] I've put sacd.cmd + sacd_extract.exe in both C:\ and D:\5ACD\ and tried to run from both - in all cases I get message that Windows has a problem with sacd.exe - specifically sacd.exe has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify if a solution is available. I opened my Firewall, and specifically allowed access to sacd.exe in both locations. Same problem. I'll reboot and try the is02dsd process next.
  10. Haggis999, I didn't overlook your link - in fact I have a print out in front of me. In effect version 3 above is your suggested method (and I tried that first).
  11. Apologies if these are dumb questions (working my way through 109 pages defeated me after about 10 pages). I have an Oppo 103, which is hard wired into my network at 192.168.1.21, and which I can successfully ping from a command line prompt on my Windows 10 computer. I've turned off autoplay and autoresume, as suggested. I downloaded files from dropbox account, as described, and followed instructions as best I could (see below). I installed latest Java, as iso2dsd wouldn't run without it. I've tried three different ways of ripping with a number of different commercially purchased (ie 'real') SACDs - unsuccessfully every time. 1. Created clean USB with an 'AutoScript' folder containing three files: AutoScript (23/04/2015, 1Kb); AutoScript.TSS (23/04/2015, 1Kb); and sacd_extract (18/02/2015, 345Kb). 2. Created Folder 0SACD on D:\ drive, which has 1Tb free space. Placed two files in it: sacd.cmd (shows as today, 1Kb); and sacd_extract.exe (shows as today, 951Kb). 3. Edited sacd.cmd in Notepad to read "sacd_extract -i 192.168.1.21:2002 -P -I" 4. Turn on Oppo, insert USB stick, wait until drawer opens, insert SACD, close drawer, wait until it shows SACD on screen. [BTW, have tried leaving both USB stick in and taking it out before pushing close.] 5. Go back to Computer VERSION 1 A. Right click sacd.cmd, 'Run as adminstrator' B. UAC asks if I really want to do it, I say yes, a window momentarily opens and closes again. C. Nada VERSION 2 A. Right click sacd_extract.exe, 'Run as administrator' B. UAC yes. C. Window temporarily opens and closes. D. Nada VERSION 3 A. Extract iso2Dsd_PC_v7.zip into Folder D:\0SACD\ iso2Dsd_PC_v7, containing _MACOSX folder (ignored); iso2dsd_gui.exe (23/01/2014, 145Kb); iso2dsd_gui.jar (24/01/2014, 84Kb); sacd_extract.exe (29/07/2017,1,073Kb); and version.txt (3/08/2015, 1Kb). B. Right click iso2dsd_gui.exe, run as administrator. C. Select server input; set IP address/port to 192.168.1.21:2002; set channel mode to stereo, output mode to Sony DSF. D. Click 'Execute' E. The first three or four times I got 'Unable to connect, libsacdread...' errors. F. The last time a window briefly opened and closed, and now nothing is happening(as far as I can tell - I'm not sure what signs I should expect that something is happening...). I'll keep playing for a while, but would appreciate any help. Happy to hit my forehead and say 'Doh!'
  12. Yes, I recognized some truth in the column, and my wife laughed like a drain when I passed the link on - she's fond of calling out 'It's your dealer on the phone dear.' It did remind me a little of the 'Mere Male' column in old Readers Digests in doctors' waiting rooms. Oddly, the magazine always seemed to fall open right at that page. On the other hand I'm not so sure about women having more sense. I have, for my education and my sins, accompanied my wife shopping for shoes. Perhaps it's just different strokes... And perhaps time to put this subject to bed?
  13. I'm struck by a number of things. Despite a bias towards technically based professionals, there's a pretty broad range of occupations and backgrounds in this blog - except there appears to be only one woman. Yet I know many woman who are musicians or into music, and when I go to concerts there's a pretty even mixture of men and women both on the stage and in the audience. And if there's one thing Apple have achieved it's to get women to love and use technology (plus get many people to accept technological dictatorship in the interests of certainty and style - correspondent ducks and runs for cover). But unless there are hundreds of secret women audiophiles who decided not to put their name to this blog, very few women extend their love of music into love of music-playing technology. Perhaps this issue isn't really in the scope of this blog, but I wonder why. Audio is not model trains (extensions of boyhood) or pig-shooting (though I believe this has a surprising number of female enthusiasts). Any thoughts?
  14. .. no matter how poor and rich I've been, I've never owned a car worth more than my stereo, or a stereo worth more than my music collection. Started as an electronic engineer (systems management), paid my way through acting school as a musician, photographer and sound designer, worked professionally as an actor, moved into directing, writing and producing television drama, wrote and taught (directing and acting) at various universities on the side, just retired from Head of Teaching at our national film school, in semi-retirement writing, travelling and taking photographs. And going to lots of concerts. Wouldn't it be great if there were more women on this post?
