  1. TecNec Intercom Straight Extension Cable 4 Pin XLR M to XLR F 10Ft Choose the 30' length and you'll have 9.144 m. of play. Connectors are very solid Neutrik. This is the cheapest 2015 New Year's present you'll give yourself. Enjoy !!
  2. I just installed Yosemite on a new 2012 mini and it didn't show the M2Tech USB converter either. I rebooted and did a PRAM reset as well just to be certain and Voila! I put a small platform under it to support the extended length and co-ax cable lead. Relieved that it wasn't a USB 3 complication with M2Tech's XMOS.
  3. Thanks for the tip DigiPete. The discount covered the steep shipping cost. You're right about the 2L staging- nothing else like it.

Thanks for the green light. Just downloaded your update and then iTunes 11.0.3. Both are playing well so far.

Updating to 1.06 was my first task this morning. Remembering my App Store password was actually a bigger chore. I hope it continues to play nice with Lion OS.

This is what did it for me- otherwise just a frozen empty progress bar.I did reboot as well just to be on the safe side.
  7. I concur too that D1 really shines in a small room secondary system. With Squeezebox as a source, imaging is much enhanced and presents a very authoritative bottom end for a bedroom sound. A bonus was discovering how the D1 headphone output capably drives low impedance headphones. Do realize that bedroom listening isn't as critical as my main system so it's all the more amazing when a jazz trio or classical quartet seems to materialize in the room. Quite credible and very enjoyable!
  8. The Audioengine D1 could be a good candidate. $169, optical input and powered by USB (or adapter). I find it a good step up from the Squeezebox Touch internal DAC.
  9. I just retired from 30 years in the Photo Industry, but still help out doing a huge public photo show. For three days it's nothing but specs and enlarging pixels to unrecognizable size. Have to humor them though and answer like it mattered.
  10. Answering my own question after borrowing a friend's DAC. With both DAC's connected you must still select only one in Sound Output preferences. Very obvious when you actually do the exercise. Next!!!
  11. Has anyone tried running one DAC from the Toslink output and simultaneously another off USB? I'm assuming both paths are always live, but just checking. One would be for speakers and the second to headphone amps.
  12. SSD just provides faster access to data and start-up. On my 2010 mini, the OEM HD is strictly music storage and I'm using an external SSD for the OS and all non-music data. Works great this way. Adding 8GB RAM is sensible and easy but swapping the internal HD is just a bear of a job. Music software with Hog Mode buffering even lessens the HD access moreso. I've recently added a Bifrost DAC and BitPerfect, so really smiling a lot these days.
