interesting question and.... lot's of Bull.
First fact, these things Are studied and measured by engineers of different disciplines.
second, it really comes down to what sounds best to YOU.
Third, back to my 1st point. problems like this can be and are measured with scientific instruments- so do it! heck you can download a spectrum analyzer and do a little of your own research.
and yes my back ground IS in acoustics. So, I did a little work and in the end I voted with MY ears and to a lesser extent my wallet.
