  1. Well I've tried the Caiman and right out of the box it makes my old cd player sound great. For the first time ever a cd made my feet tap! There's a detail there that just wasn't before, good sound staging and all in all well worth the money. Can't wait for it to burn in!
  2. Hi Rudi, thanks for the links. I'm looking at the Musical Fidelity V Link 2. Its the right price and fits in with the rest of my gear in terms of quality. I have an old Technics SLPG 590 that I'm going to use as a transport but I mainly like creating playlists, hence I'm getting rid of the well modded Rega turntable I bought and going down the digital route. The rest of my system? Creek Cas4140 S2 amp and Mordaunt Short Festival 2 speakers so you can see why I want/need to keep it in perspective regarding costs. Thanks, Lol
  3. Thanks for clearing that up. I have looked at a few usb/coax converters so I'll have to go that route. Unlikely to get rid of the Beresford, it only landed this morning :-) Thanks, Lol
  4. Hi, I'm new to the forum and new to computer audio so please bear with me. I'm in the process of selling my turntable and have invested in a Beresford Caiman DAC to use my cd player as a transport through a optical link. I also want to connect my netbook through the usb socket. I was hoping to be able to play some 24 bit music via the usb port which in the manual states is USB2 compatible and has a maximum word length of 16 bits. Is this a hardware limitation regarding the DAC, is it a Windows 7 native usb 2 driver limitation? My netbook only has an usb output but it supports HD 24 bit up to 192Khz through the Realtek HD interface for it's sound card. Does this mean if I set the output to 24 bit it will play through the DAC at 24 bit? Hope someone can clear this up for me! Thanks, Lol
