I'd like to be able to power down my NAS from my iPad.
I have a WD MyBook World Edition attached to my router via an ethernet cable. The router is a generic unit manufactured by Thompson and issued as standard by my ISP (Plusnet in the UK).
I've tried using a couple of iPad apps to wake the NAS from sleep using Wake On LAN, but none have worked which leads me to suspect that it might not be possible to do what I want to.
Browsing various forums, I've come across suggestions that powering down a unit remotely could be accomplished using ssh, but going down that path would involve me in a steep learning curve!
Does anyone have any suggestions?
