  1. I'm also wondering for those people using Amazon Unlimited, if there are any sync utilities available?
  2. I tried Vox/Loop, it is very buggy. After numerous re-installs and too much troubleshooting I finally gave up on it. There is a new service called iBroadcast iBroadcast - Music Storage Locker System, Web & Mobile Music Player I don't understand how they are monetizing but they offer unlimited free storage. There is currently no sync utility for Mac. I've tested it with a few albums and it works quite nicely, although their interface is not great (sort by Artist and all the songs are grouped together into one giant list, for example).
  3. Hey I got this working thanks to this link... http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?94512-Announce-Enhanced-Digital-Output-app-USB-Dac-and-192k-Digital-Ouput I didn't really understand the use of the USB hub until I read some of the comments on this new thread - that took care of the pops and clicks for me.
  4. Chris, you make an excellent point regarding 16bit vs. 24bit on non-premium equipment. I did some really, really careful listening today in several configurations and decided to go ahead and abandon the Squeezebox for now and simply go back to my older setup of an Airport Express/iTunes coupled with the new Audioengine D1 and A5+ speakers. There still a huge sound quality improvement over what I had before (my old Sony receiver), and while the specs don't look as good on paper I can at least still easily listen to my 24bit files (I don't have THAT many), albiet in downsampled form, and I don't have to hassle with running the Logitech Server.
  5. I tried enabling the USB connection with this procedure: http://www.digitalaudioreview.net.au/index.php/news-blog-and-showcase/john-darkos-blog/item/150-how-to-enable-usb-audio-output-on-the-squeezebox-touch The result was lots of ticks and pops.
  6. I do have a support message pending with Audioengine, as well as a thread on the Logitech support forums. Yes I am able to play the 24 bit files on my computer, just not through the Squeezebox. As I understand it Logitech Media Server coverts Apple Lossless to FLAC or PCM for playback. There are options to specify the decoders in the backend interface, it's currently using "faad/sox" for FLAC and "faad" for PCM. The command line settings are editable in a file called convert.conf, however the only other selectable options for Apple Lossless (or FLAC) for the decoders is "disabled."
  7. My previous setup was this same Squeezebox through an optical cable into an older Sony STR-DG1000 receiver and the 24bit files played fine through that. I tested this new setup with FLAC files and I have the same problem. I also tried a powered hub and a several different usb cables but it made no difference.
  8. After some careful listening, I'm still hearing clicks after enabling the usb output from the Squeezebox. So I'm still stumped. I connected the D1 directly to the computer and both FLAC and Apple Lossless files play fine, so it seems to be an issue with either the Logitech Media Server or the Squeezebox Touch.
  9. After doing some more research, this thread answered my questions: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?93310-Async-USB-Dac-Experiments-testers-wanted/page19 So far everything is working flawlessly for me with Kernel #6. I should add some more information. I started as above with an optical connection but was unable to play 24bit files. I did have a separate USB connection for power. Then I decided to try the USB input, but it's not supported by Logitech so I tried this: http://www.digitalaudioreview.net.au/index.php/news-blog-and-showcase/john-darkos-blog/item/150-how-to-enable-usb-audio-output-on-the-squeezebox-touch Pops and clicks galore! That lead me to the Logitech forum to look into the popping and clicking. I'm still not clear on why the optical connection did not work properly, I'm thinking it might be due to the adaptive mode of the D1. I'd be curious to read about other folk's experiences with the D1 and the Squeezebox.
  10. I recently purchased an Audioengine D1 DAC which I'm using with a Logitech Squeezebox, connected via optical cable. All is working fine except when I try to play 24bit Apple Lossless files. I can hear the D1 make an audible "click" noise and then silence. If I switch playback on the Squeezebox to a 16bit file sound returns to normal. Is it possible my D1 unit is defective? Any suggestions?
