  1. Hey guys, I've been reading about voltage and impedance matching but can't seem to find a simple rule of thumb. My current setup is a Calyx DAC into a Passive Pre into a Byston 3BSST amp. The Calyx has an out of 2.2Vrms and the Bryston has two input options. The manual says generally to use the 1.3Vrms (29db) setting which is what I am currently running (using RCA interconnects). However I never really go past 1/2 volume on my pre with this configuration (which is very loud depending on the recording). If I switch the amp to its 2.6Vrms(23db) setting I can comfortably play most music with the volume about 1/2 way up. So should I be using the 2.6V setting? Is there a general rule of thumb for matching these things up? Thanks
  2. Assuming I am using an Audeophilleo from my computer and only using the RCA outs to my pre-amp are there any differences in SQ between the base Zodiac Dac and the Plus model? Their comparison chart doesn't give much detail about if there are any internal differences between them (power supply, dac chip etc.). Thanks
  3. Thanks everyone for the suggestions thus far. I do not need an analog input so we can rule that out. The NAD looks interesting. Would like to see some more comparisons on it though. Specifically dealing with the USB input. I'm still wondering if I would be better off with the a combo of the Audiophilleo and a Bel Canto (or something along those lines). I have read both schools of thought that it is better to go direct to USB and some people say it is better to use the converter and connect SPDIF. I wish I had more places I could demo some of these options but they aren't really available in my area.
  4. Hi All, First post here. I was hoping I could get some recommendations on a DAC that has multiple inputs and well as USB input (at least 24/96 or higher - preferably no drivers needed (OS X)). Would also be nice if it had volume control so I can use it as a preamp. Budget
