Thank you Miska. I have the T+A DAC 8 DSD. What Settings would you recommend for this DAC? Thank you!

Under Settings there is a box named “Auto rate family” I just checked it and it looks like it is doing what I wanted. Thank you!

Thanks for the reply. I found the Sample rate / limit under Settings. But I could not see the ‘Adaptive output rate’ option under Settings. Could it be named differently o under another category/tab?

Question on Upsampling: I am upsampling all my files as follows: PCM tracks to 352.8; DSD tracks to 512 DSD.In both cases, that represents a multiple of 8 for PCM 44.1 and DSD64 tracks. However, since I also have PCM tracks that are PCM 96, I would think that it would be better to upsample those tracks to 384. Is there a way to tell HQP to upsample to 352.8 or to 384 depending on the sampling rate of the original PCM track? Thanks!

    HQ Player

Not sure if this is the best place to post this question. If not, my apologies. I am using HQPlayer and Roon. I am having HQPlayer upsample/convert all my music to DSD512 (I have a PC running Windows). I am also using the poly-sinc-xtr -2s filter. I would like to experiment with room correction software. I understand that using the Convolution Engine features, HQPlayer allows one to use room correction files that have been created with software such as Audiolense, Acourate, DRC and REW. (Note: I am leaning toward Audiolense because I have read that the learning curve not as steep and the GUI is better.) Questions: Am I correct into assuming that using Audiolense (or similar software) I can create "convolution engine" files that can be used by HQPlayer to correct inefficiencies in my room? Will these "convolution engine" files restrict or preclude my ability to upsample/convert my music to DSD512? Will these "convolution engine" files restrict or preclude my ability to use certain filters like the poly-sinc-xtr -2s filter that I am currently using? Would using "convolution engine" files require a substantially higher computer power for HQPlayer to be able to use them? If there is a better site/forum to ask this question please advice. Thanks in advance.
  7. Well, it did not work. No DSD512 upsampling with the ‘non 2s’.
  8. I just purchased a Falcon Northwest PC computer (Tiki). It is designed as a gaming computer (i.e., lots of processing requirement). It has the Intel Core i7 8700k processor and Nvidia GTX 1080 card (with Cuda). This set up has no problem upsampling everything to DSD512. I have not tried running the 'non -2' options yet, but I do not foresee a problem as the fans in this computer do not seem to even come on.
  9. While waiting for my desktop windows computer to arrive, I downloaded HQPlayer for iMac just to try it out with Roon. While I was able to get it to connect to Roon and play music, I have not been able to connect HQPlayer to my Rpi-Digi Pro combo. I learned that I was missing the NAA file for my dietpi. But even after installing the file, HQPlayer does not find the NAA. At the moment, HQPlayer while it is still being recognized by Roon endpoint, it will not play. I believe that the trial version of HQPlayer got corrupted somehow. But if I try to delete from the iMac and download a new trial version, the download will not open. Any suggestions? Note: I will be buying a windows version of HQPlayer once my new computer arrives. But meanwhile I would like to play a little with HQPlayer and get familiar with it.
  10. Thanks Miska. Decided to go with a Windows 10 machine based on your response. Thanks!
  11. I am trying out HQPlayer. My intention is to be able to upconvert my files to DSD512. I am looking for ideas as to what NAA I can use to make this happen. My current set up: iMac (running Roon Core) NAA (raspberry Pi3 with Digi+ Hat) Oppo 205 (Roon Ready) I understand that the Rpi3-Digi Pro combo has limited output. Someone suggested that I consider another NAA like the microRendu, Allo USBridge, etc. I realize that I might have to purchase a different DAC (like the T+A DAC8 DSD) since the Oppo 205 might not be able to do DSD512). I read elsewhere in CA that folks are building their our servers that can run Roon Core and HQPlayer and can do all the upconversions. I would appreciate your comments. Thanks!
  12. Years ago I used to run the Transporter via wifi and never experienced any problems with dropouts. However, the wifi router was not too far away in an adjacent room. Eventually I decided to run an Ethernet cable and installed a switch to accommodate wired connections to several components that required an Ethernet connection. At that time I stopped using the wifi in the Transporter. From memory, I do not recall any SQ difference in wired vs wifi, but I did not play high res files at that time which perhaps could have taxed the wifi connection.
  13. I also have a similar set up: Drobo, Roon, and Transporter. I use the Transporter as a transport the same way you do, except that I have it hard-wired (Ethernet). Please post what you end up with and how the sound compares vs the Transporter. Thanks!
  14. You will get all kid of responses. I use Blue Jeans cables.
