  1. hello, i finally added SBT to my system. previously i was playing my music files on my laptop. my configuration is; SBT + Synology DS211j + DACMagic2 + CA Azur 640 + Wireworld Starlight Coax cable i have several questions both on SBT configuration and playing Hi-Res flac files. 1. first i have my archive in main folders such as "albums" for standart mp3 files, "lossless albums" for flac files, "soundtracks", "classical" etc. i would like to reach them as seperate libraries as in JRiver. on my SBT under de albums i see them in one folder all mixed up. when i go thru "music folders" on SBT, i see them as i pointed under dedicated folder structure as i mentioned above but cannot play tracks in track number order, it just plays in alphabetical order. 2. another issue on album covers. i store all my album covers in the album folders named as front.jpg. problems occurs when there are more then one disc, i have subfolders such as "disc 1", "disc 2". covers cannot be displayed if there are subfolders in the main album folder. 3. scanning takes so much time, i don't want SBT rescan all the time. what is the best and quickest way rescanning the music archive for changes? 4. i can only get 44.1 while playing hi-res flac files. my DAC supports up to 96 but i always get 44.1, i have choosen my coax cable one of the preffered overe here, Wireworld Starlight, i don't it's the cable. what should i do to play the flac as they are. thanks in advance
  2. thank you all for spending time on this topic and giving advices, you've been really helpful. i don't have enough knowledge about Linux, i'd like to use win7. i have already stored all my music data on my NAS and feeding my laptop from, i'll continue to do that and instead of larger hdd i can go with an SSD to improve my system. V-Link will be a good way to start with. i am still happy with Dacmagic. maybe i can replace it with a better DAC after investing on Macbook. still have the old CA Azur 640A-2 stereo amp., maybe change the DAC and stereo amp together later. i started to search SSD's cause i ve read that some are incompatible with my old intel 945 chipset. i will definetely go thru Chris' recommendations on Win 7 optimization. So, i will add an SSD and MF V-Link, better digital cables (thinking of wire world ones) do the optimizations, run JRMP and store music on NAS and add an iPad for remote.
  3. i will definetely try MF V-Link alternatives. what about comparing with MBP's optical out vs PC's USB out + MF V-Link? on the Macbook side, will i gain more with MF V-Link usb to sp/dif instead of using just optical out?
  4. thank you, that's great help. i'll dig into this this week. so i cancel soundcard upgrade which will be useless. what about hdd? is it a good way to store music content in the same enviroment and run hdd on the same laptop or i just continue to get data from NAS. another concern, it's nearly same cost with Squeezebox Touch. should i just go ahead and buy a SBT and use my NAS as a server or use my old laptop with MF V-Link upgrade. which will be more future proof way do you think? i can see MF have a newer version of V-Link that takes up to 192K. would that be a better improvement? or just no need to invest for an old laptop?
  5. hello, i have fairly an old Vaio laptop which i'll be replacing with MBP (waiting for the new models come out). it has coreduo 1.67 GHz processor with 2GB ram (max allowed). i am running JRMP 17 on it, store music on Synology NAS and transferring data to CA DACMagic via USB. i'd like to use my Vaio for only music listening and some downloads. i am planning to upgrade internal HDD of Vaio to store all my music content on internal hdd. thinking of 750 GB Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid Solid State. DACMagic allows to play at only 44.1 with USB out. is it possible to get optical out? maybe with a soundcard upgrade? i need some advice for upgrading my old laptop to get the most out of it. thank you in advance.
  6. thank you for the help. i've already separated my libraries. as i've experinced it's not that good switching between libraries. as you mentioned putting all them in single library will be a better solution since all my archive is in one single folder. instead of filtering them, can i see my sub folders like "lossless", "soundtracks", "classical" as tree view under single library?
  7. since it's JRiver users thread i would like to ask a simple question. i have a Synology NAS and my folder setup is as follows; under my shared "music" folder there is main "Complete Albums" folder and under this main there are "albums", "albums lossless", "soundtracks", "complations" and "classical" i would like to create libraries for all these subfolders, so basicaly i need 5-6 different libraries. is this a good way to handle libraries? then i can't add another library, there is only one library i created at the start for "albums lossless".
  8. hello to all, i am new to forum and found out it's the right place for me to find a solution. i am looking for the easiest and most efficient way to play my music archive. i have a big archive (at least for me) that i cannot store on my computer with many FLAC and APE albums. i store all my media on my Synology 211 NAS and also have Cambridge Audio DACMagic2 to convert digital audio. recently i play my archive on my pc laptop via foobar2000 and connect DAC via usb. looking for a pc free solution for it. first i was thinking about Logitech Squeezebox Touch as my network player. then i've found out that IPAD can transfer digital audio to DAC. so basicaly i'm looking for a solution get my music data out from NAS and send it to DAC, Logitech SBT or IPAD? if IPAD can handle this it would be more useful to go with IPAD. my another concern is how can i use iTunes Server on Synology NAS? there will IPAD, Macbook Pro and PC laptop at home, so all these devices should access the music library. running itunes server on Synology NAS can handle this? thank you for any comment
