  1. AD.....I have this picture in my head of you directing the nurse to rearrange the furnishings for better acoustics. The bare tile floor must be murder! Hope all is well and you're up and about soon!
  2. I bought an Audioquest Forest USB since the price was low and I felt I could be assured I had a well made cable. My interconnects are stock Burson provided. Sounds just fine to me.

  4. Well after a long and nerve wracking decision process I ordered a Burson DA160 dac and received it just the other day. In the past I was using first an HRT Streamer up to a Musical Fidelity M1A. I was able to borrow a Bifrost in between. All were enjoyable. The HRT had great sound but was limited. The Bifrost was a vast improvement and the M1A was loads of fun. But I found them all to be fairly edgy. Especially the M1A. It was an "in your face" style. Bright, pushy. Not necessarily in a bad way. Not fatiguing but unnatural. The M1A did have a great sound stage. One reviewer called it holographic. I have to agree. So I gave the M1A a disconnect and put the DA160 in it's place........ Amazing. Right out of the box I was so pleased. The sound is by far incredibly natural. No edgy hi end. Deep, well controlled lows. Lush midrange. Loads of detail. Burson says to give it a few weeks for burn in. I can't wait. I'm not much of a reviewer but I'll come back in a while and do my best. Mark
  5. One and a half.....I can see what you're saying. The LEDs do look like a kit alarm clock from the eighties! But at the same time I have to hand it to them. They've broken that spartan look most DACs have. Yes, I'm a style whore. I do like quality and great sound, but if I can get good looks......sure! And who doesn't? For cryin' out loud! Look at just about any hifi manufacturer. They all have "style". It's a big selling point. IMO, the Italians have always had it for style and that comes through in the M2Tech Young. I like the perf grille and the two buttons. The LED marquee has me on the fence but they did just come out with BLUE LEDs which help just a tad with the whole alarm clock thing. I may buy one. M
  6. DM....Nice review, seems honest and revealing. I have to agree with labjr and one or two others. I can't get my brain around the $7000 plus price tag on this one.
  7. Hello Has anyone ever compared these two DACS? I am particularly interested in soundstage difference. I am very familiar with the MF M1a but I have no way to audition the Burson. Reviews have'nt been very helpful. Mark
  8. Well, last night I was sipping Stolichnaya muddled with a slice of grapefruit and crushed ice hanging around with my flea market/antique circuit friend in his Victorian slum smoking a Fuente Chateau Sungrown. Tonight, Cinco De Mayo, who knows?
  9. The link to Music Direct doesn't offer any real specs either and states that they will ship the 24th which is tomorrow. But you've had one for two weeks.
  10. It would be great to see some specs on this but apparently the Luxman site makes no mention.
  11. the kind of stuff I like. Priceless. Good night! M
  12. After finding out the site was down I "surfed" researching the M2Tech Young DAC because its Italian and it looks cool and it excites me. That curved, perf'd front grill with the marquee LEDs is way cool daddy-o. I want one and I want it bad. The only turn off is it's WalWart ac adapter. But hey, it's getting great reviews. Although they do offer a ridiculously priced power supply for it for a mere $1100. Something seems amiss here. While I did that for a tad under an hour I listened to the soundtrack to the "In Like Flint" movies by Jerry Goldsmith. A fun one. After, I went outside for a cigar, a Perdomo ESV Sungrown and some light gardening in the glorious sunshine. Love the new look here. Especially it now being very mobile friendly! M
  13. Stop. Just stop. Please.
  14. When I purchased my MF M-1A I bought an Audioquest Forest at thirty some odd bucks only for the peace of mind knowing I had a well made cable. I can't see spending more on USB. Maybe one day I'll be daring and buy an Ultraviolet for s**ts and giggles.
  15. So sweet! Sincerest congrats to you and your wife. Hmmmmm......Baby's first DAC.....who makes pink cables?
