  1. Yes I am almost thinking to send the cable back before I even test. I thankyou for your input though. I really like the Muse system you created, and If I do decide to sell I will drop you a line
  2. One thing to look out for apparently is on the front case it states 176.4kHz whereas the old one doesn't. If you could take it apart the power supply side is different also. Below the insides of the newer model. http://www.audiostream.com/content/musical-fidelity-m1-dac-new-one
  3. I will do I can do an A to B comparison as the Vdac is still here. Also with the subjective cabling too. I still wonder if people have any thoughts about this?
  4. I ordered the newer model with the Asynchronous USB Input as I play through PC mainly. looking forward to recieving it too
  5. Thanks for all your help. Well I fell for all the reviews and advice. I spent more than I wanted too, but as the Vdac has served me so well and I use the device every day. I opted for the Music Fidelity M1 and a Furutech Formula 2 USB cable. I was actually quite lucky the store had an offer for Valentines day 10% off so the M1 cost £359, but the cable was £55 (not too sure this will make a blind bit of difference, but being higher quality than I already have should stop jitter I guess. Very subjective as it's 1's and 0's. Perhaps other might like to offer their thoughts on the cable. I might very well have the Vdac up for sale shortly, or might keep it for other duties.
  6. That’s why earlier in this thread I was pointed towards the Hiface and using coaxial, and later the M1 as a replacement altogether.
  7. I will. It's not the evo its this one http://www.m2tech.biz/hiface.html
  8. Yes you see my dilemma. I keep thinking the VDac II with the correct PSU i.e. VPSU as has been stated in reviews would be similar to the M1. Edgaronline seems to have a handle on these VDacs. Just read the review he mentioned why would a reviewer say this. "At the moment, the M1 is the only DAC available from or by Musical Fidelity, aside from the even less expensive V-DAC for $299. But we're not counting accessories—the V-DAC comes in a blister pack. Get one before they're gone, for a second system." I think with the improvements Edgaronline has stated it might be the better cheaper alternative using my older version 1 VDac with the HiFace and and VPSU. I will also speak to the HiFi shop and ask, but likely hood they will try and sell me the more expensive option.
  9. Thank you that better puts it into perspective. I am still then back to choice of what I have already purchased or the M1, which is an extra 200 on top. It really comes down to spending £200 and go for the hiface + Vpsu and keeping my beloved Vdac in the mix. Or spending £400 and getting the M1 be done with it and sell on or keep the Vdac for something else. As with any HiFi purchase extra expense. I think the M1 might be a bridge to far. The hiface I understand having too many components in the mix though, does offer a future proofing side and being separate units. May offer more flexibility at a lower cost. The Vpsu might come close to the M1 power supply in the mix with these separate items at a lower cost. I understand it is all my decision, but cost wise this still might be a better route to take. I thank you for your input. @Edgar I am not worried about the looks of the Vdac I understand exactly what you mean. I more concerned about the sound and the price point.
  10. Thankyou both for you your help. I have placed a hold until tomorrow where I might choose the M1 over the earlier ordered items. Still looking for a review of the asynchronous model does that mean usb can go upto 192 also or is it upscaled? Or is the source a lot lower because a lot of reviews point at this as a poor area on the M1 the USB interface max or am I just looking at the earlier model all the time in the reviews. Sorry if I am asking weird questions getting sligtly confused. The Hiface doesn't upscale at all does it? The M1 however though like the VdacII does? Just found one answer The Musical Fidelity M1 DAC under review today is not the same Musical Fidelity M1 DAC that's been around since June/July 2010. This one is new and improved as of a November 2011 street date namely adding an Asynchronous USB input capable of handling 24-bit/96kHz data and adding $50 to its price tag (the old M1 DAC's adaptive USB input was limited to 16/48).
  11. "MF MDAC-1A" Do you mean the Musical Fidelity M1 Asychronous DAC?
  12. Another question though. With the Vdac II doesn't it upsample the stream? With what I have purchased it mearly plays what its source is. Is this correct. I had looked briefly at the M1, but thought it out of my price range considering I have the Dac already. Maybe I shouldn't be so hasty and change the order to the VDac 11 if it's the same cost and upscales. Any more opinions would be much appreciated.
  13. I have just bought the suggested components after listening to the muse at £199 I didn't really want to let go of my Vdac I love the sound from it. I already have the Vdac version 1 so this will compliment it and enhance I hope the sound.
  14. I just read your white paper on the Muse impressive. If I got the hiface and the Vpsu I think I would notice a big difference. Would normal PC sounds though be transmitted through this chain when the PC is doing other things, because I basically use the Vdac as my only sound source. i understand I need the drivers to go higher, but normal PC sounds at lower rates will be passed through normally? I have found the hiface available on ebay locally to me. So I am ready to pull the plug on that if the question above can be answered please. I listen to radio a lot also on pc. The Vpsu seems mainly to be available in version II format is it worth going for this over the older model? Found both units now for £199.
  15. Thanks for your reply. I thought the VdacII to went to 192. Using the hiface 24/192 usb to spdif converter would I still be able to hear normal PC sounds form other sources i.e gaming, radio etc, because I see it requires a driver. Do you know of a UK supplier of these by chance? I have a differnet PSU a regulated pw00140 IC1200 Stable at the moment is there really a huge difference in the sound. I changed from the standard wallmart as soon as I got the Vdac. I would like to keep my Vdac, but the Vdac II has thrown a spanner in the works. I was thinking the old Vlink and maybe the Vpsu before I posted this as it's almost the same cost as buying a VdacII, but you say it doesn't do 24/192. This hiface interests me I will have to do some research. You don't happen to be able to sell a modified power supply as I don't have the skills if it's cheaper than the vpsu? Your infomation does help a lot Thankyou. Impressed with your Muse server listening to it now on the youtube video. Is that uinit using the components you mention with your own tweaks?
