  1. I am currently running Lossless ALAC files on my 160GB Classic that I originally had in FLAC and converted to ALAC using free software called dBpoweramp. I wrestled with this issue for a while and it definitely paid of since I have the types of setups in my vehicle and home to merit hours of tearing my hear out to get this right. dBpoweramp just needs to be downloaded as well as its audio format pack and then after you can convert whichever lossless format you have into ALAC which should be recognized by your iPod with all metadata intact. Great thing too is that whatever music is converted to ALAC you can have it on iTunes too if that's your player of choice. The only downside though is I'm pretty sure that the iPod can only handle a 48khz sample rate instead of 96khz. I am currently running a Kenwood eXcelon DNX-8120 with 24-bit DAC and I know that my iPod's DAC is being bypassed by using its proprietary iPod cable.
