  3. I was also struggling with this, but then I found that "High Quality Streaming" had somehow toggled off in Spotify,
  4. How about Martin Logan? They are based in Kansas, although I believe some manufacturing is done in Canada. The Renaissance model is their brand new top of the line hybrid electrostatic. It would look great in a family room setting like you describe, and it probably sounds terrific.
  5. So the Van Morrison album discussed in the review is titled "Astral Weeks" for those that may have wondered.
  6. Also, JRiver and Synology can downsample hi Rez files for rendering by Sonos.
  7. Actually Sonos can be integrated with other uPnP control points. Both JRiver and Synology Audio Station, for example, recognize Sonos units as UPNP/DLNA zones/renderers.
  8. I believe Arcam makes a combination DAC/Airplay streamer. Also Sonore Microrendu can act as Airplay streamer. There are other options as well, I think.
  9. Cincy2, the easiest and most straightforward way to do this is using DSAudio, the iOS app from Synology. That way you don't need another computer to serve the audio, as you would if you used JRiver. Also, if you configure "Quick Connect" on the NAS, you won't have to hassle with Port forwarding.
  10. I saw the Hifiman HE400i headphones on Amazon for $249, a very good price, so I grabbed a pair. I haven't yet had a chance to listen to them.
  11. Nice. Any way to do that in the LMS interface itself, do you know? I'm not using a phone or ipad. It seems I just have one "music" folder available to me. I'd love to be able to browse my folder structure. Thanks.
  12. What is folder mode? How do you access that?
  13. Thanks for the tip. I just got this up and running on my Synology NAS. I've never used LMS before. Using two carefully selected, well recorded test tracks (Elvin Bishop "Juke Joint Jump" from "The Best of Elvin Bishop - The Millenium Collection" and Jerry Garcia and David Grisman "Russian Lullaby" from "Jerry Garcia and David Grisman"), the mrendu, and a pair of Sennheiser HD700s, I have determined that LMS sounds better than Synology Audio Station, which in turn sounds better than JRiver. Of course, it could just be my imagination! ;-)
  14. I have a Sonore Microrendu > Geek Pulse sfi DAC > Audioengine A5+ with Audioengine A8 Sub. Server is either the Windows 10 Computer with JRiver or the Synology NAS with Audio Station. I periodically think about upgrading the speakers, but I haven't gotten around to it. I guess I like the Audioengines pretty well. Active is the way to go on the desktop IMO. Those new KEFs sound interesting I must say. I have Sennheiser HD 700 (and HD 650) for when people are trying to do something in the other room.
