  1. Sony HAP-ZIES on sale everywhere at $500 off. It may have been on sale before, but this is the first I've seen it. Maybe they are going to retire, or refresh, this unit? Have had mine for years now. Buggy interface, delightful sound.
  2. Dan, Seeing your reply for the first time a month late. Thanks for the advice. I will give that a try. - Doug
  3. Question regarding changing metadata and not having changes reflected on Sony HAP-Z. I use Metadatics to adjust metadata. Previously I used SOTM music server and whatever I plugged in to the metadata is what showed up on my user interface. With Sony I can change artist or track artist, but the interface will show what was originally there. I can change genre, but it is not reflected. I have Gracenote option turned off on Sony. Any thoughts? Thanks! - Doug

    Metadatics

Some time back I posted a question regarding the quality of Metadatics as a metadata editor. I was complaining that Tag & Rename didn't exist for OSX. Didn't get any response, but after several months of using it I can report that I find Metadatics a better editor than Tag & Rename. Nice program. Reasonably priced. Very intuitive.
  5. Now that there is a decent Quicken for Mac, I am one program away from being done with my PC. Looking for a replacement for Tag & Rename. Can anyone comment on Yate vs. Meta. Saw previous thread that discussed Yate vs. Metadatics, but not vs. Meta. Thanks!

  7. That has been my opinion as well, since its release in 1976. Most people don't even know it exists, say nothing of putting it near the top.
  8. Just this last week the CO Springs Philharmonic did "Pictures.." as a "Beyond The Score" performance where the first half of the evening was a multimedia event with live narration of the story behind the piece. There were plenty of Russian and French visuals plus images of the score as well as Hartman, Mussorgsky, Ravel, Rimsky-Korsakov. The orchestra would play short bits that were being discussed as well as live comparison of the piano score vs. the orchestral. Then after intermission the orchestra played the whole piece start to finish. The sold-out crowd loved it! Any way I was inspired to get a piano version and settled on the Chandos release "Piano Works by the Mighty Handful", pianist Philip Edward Fisher, 24-bit. Played it on my new SotM server and was VERY pleased. Got it at eClassical.
  9. Many thanks! Have the concept, no art yet, but playing around with the URL as suggested.
  10. I'm up and running with Vortexbox and using MPaD to control. It doesn't recognize the album art in the folders labeled "folder.jpg", which I had used with Sonos. There are instructions in the MPad "Help" regarding setting up some separate site that can be discovered by MPad. Unfortunately I'm not computer savvy enough to figure that out. Is there someone out there who can give step-by-step instructions to overcome this problem. Thanks!
  11. I've noticed a definite improvement in clarity of sound on my Sonos system now that I'm using Airport Express. Was previously using NAS>Time Capsule>Sonos ZonePlayer 90>wireless>Sonos ZonePlayer 90>Toslink>Peachtree iNova. Now have eliminated one of the ZonePlayers and do NAS>Time Capsule>wireless>Airport Express>Cat5>Sonos Zoneplayer>Toslink>Peachtree iNova. Much better.
  12. Can someone give advice on how to install MPoD on new Vortexbox server? Haven't been able to find anything at various sites that will give me the info I know. I know ZERO about Linux. Also even being able to get Squeezebox to work would get me up and running. Squeezebox on my iPad will identify Vortexbox, but the music tab says "Empty". Thanks!
  13. Check out Bowers & Wilkins "Society of Sound" for some good offerings and Ola Gjeilo's album "Northern Lights" at The Classical Shop for some fine choral music at 24-bit.
  14. When I want to hear my system pop I play Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Hass, "Fire & Grace" or "In The Moment". Gorgeously recorded fiddle and cello playing mixed genre of Celtic and classical. Have also been listening to Ola Gjeillo's new 24-bit recording "Northern Lights" that I picked up at The Classical Shop.
