  1. naim Mu-so II would be my choice for this location. Beautiful to look at and gives the full system a run for it's money. Not like you get to enjoy stereo imaging much with a system set up like this anyway.
  2. Hopefully they have worked out the bugs. I have the original LS50W and LSX. Both have had complete failures and had to be replaced. Kef did take care of things so that is great. I have had nothing but trouble with the Kef speakers though, wireless never worked basically with any consistency. I ended up with a bluesound node 2i going to the digital input and they work fine. I've also had Dynaudio Xeo 3 and 4. the Xeos have never failed to work, no glitched no issues no dropouts nothing. I think they sound better too, they are missing the connectivity options though you still need a streamer. If Dynaudio could ever add Roon ready and spotify etc. to the connect box they would really have something.
  3. very nice. I bought something big like a set of speakers or something from you years ago. I remember the user name. We talked many times about hifi on the phone. Looks like you have found your holy grail. Nice.
  4. LOL. How can you possibly say what you are hearing is the Bartok in listening? You are hearing a new system. How does one pick out the contribution of the DAC vs the speakers or the amps that you don't already know? If you were going to fly all the way there seems like the most obvious thing to do would be to put the Rossini up against the Bartok head to head. That is what we all want to know. Can we get very close to the sound of the Rossini with the Bartok? : )
  5. I bought a pair to put in my kitchen. I play a lot of music there and have been using a Meridian F80 connected via a 3rd gen Apple TV to it's optical input. This is a clearly a huge step up. I was skeptical of the looks and was hesitant to even get a pair based on the looks. I am very surprised, they look great to me and am very happy with the titanium/red combo I got. I also have a pair of Dynaudio Xeo 3s in my bedroom. I tried them in the kitchen for a while to see if I liked better sound there before getting the Kefs. I'm kind of bummed that the LS50 doesn't support Airplay since that is the main way I get music to my remote systems. It would have been nice to do away with the Apple TV. Maybe it's something they can add in the future? The sound is great and comparable to the Xeo 3. I'd say if you like Dyaudio sound in general better than Kef you'll probably also like the xeo better than the LS50 wireless. I like them both the LS50 is more detailed and resolving I'd say and not quite as warm as the Xeo. One thing that is bugging me is I'm not seeing a way to be able to leave these on at all times. They turn off after some time of non use. The Xeos do also but they wake themselves back up when you start to play music. The LS50 does not seem to do this. The manual doesn't say much. I'm hoping there is a way to either put these in a sleep/wake up mode or just leave them on at all times. It's not very convenient to have to turn them on each time I use them.
  6. Hi, I am noticing that you can only add 99 tracks to the play queue now? I will often add a group of albums to the play queue and then shuffle that list and save the shuffled list to a new playlist so I can work my way through the songs in a shuffled order. It's a bit of a workaround to be able to save a shuffled order but this is the only way I have found to make it work in TIDAL. I just was trying to make a shuffled list out of 50 albums I added and it will now only let you put 99 tracks in the queue. Does anyone know a way around this. TIDAL's interface is very frustrating, I only stick with them since the sound is so good and they do have a lot of the music I like on there.
  7. Hey guys can you answer me this? I am thinking of Roon to consolidate my itunes and TIDAL files. I want to also get an Onkyo DPx1 portable player so that I can load music from either itunes files or offline TIDAL. Will this work smoothly to add files to the portable player through ROON?
  8. Hopefully they don't ruin the sound of TIDAL. I tried apple music for a while and the sound wasn't good. Seems like Apple thinks they can just decide for everyone what is good and bad. They have been known for bad sound forever so I hope they don't creep in and wreck a good thing that is TIDAL.
  9. Good to know. I might give it another try at some point. It was possessed for me, crazy shit like playing music at 1/2 speed and major latency (delay) that required re start. I have other things going on in my system and it all works smoothly so we can only assume that there is a clash going on here and ROON doesn't like something in my rig.
  10. Yeah I know it's a bummer. I think the sound is better than iTunes for sure. I know there can be problems with anything but compared to iTunes and TIDAL this thing is possessed for me. I'm just wondering if it's not really meant to hold tens of thousands of albums. It's probably perfect of the typical audiophile who only listens to a handful of things over and over again. The user interface is very nice looking and seems like very good at providing lots of information about the music you are listening to.
  11. I tried ROON for 5 days. It sounded like a dream come true. I have 12K albums in my iTunes so I might be an exception to the rule. I had nothing but trouble. Literally like 10 different problems. Tonight it started playing music at 1/2 speed. Like playing a 45 on 33 speed. Way way way to much hassle and commitment needed to get it working smoothly. They don't even have a remote for the iPhone. Seems like there are a lot of devoted ROONies but damn what a POS that program was for me. It was nice and fast at first but after a couple days it's taking a long time to start up and even locked up and I had to quit and even restart my computer a number of times to get it working again. Looks like a dream come true with TIDAL integration but even that is weak they don't have brand new albums on there and frankly I am wondering if I searched for something in TIDAL on ROON if their database is even complete. It didn't bring in a ton of my music and messed up the tagging for it and I couldn't find a bunch of stuff. None of my iTunes playlists made it in, I tried to work on that for a while and no luck. Sorry to rant and rave but I wish I had looked around and read more than the rave reviews in the magazines about it. There are problem after problem with it on the forums for ROON and it just seems like way to much work to get it working and I really wonder if it's even possible when you have a big collection and it's not all the most popular and common stuff. If you had only 500 albums and it's the most known popular stuff it might be great but for me no way just a huge headache
  12. I have been in iTunes hell for the last month. It has become totally unusable for me. Not sure if that is why you are so excited. I'm hoping it works.
  13. I am wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the benefits of a better cord for an iMac? I have to get about a 10' cord. I have the stock cord plugged into an extension cord now so I'd like to get something better. Anyone tried upgrading the power cord on their iMac? How did you like it?
