  1. I made sure the updates are current, and they are not an issue. Perhaps the CD drive is incompatible. It was new about the time that the world started to be able to burn DVD's, and perhaps it needs updating or a new driver and/or drive. I will check that, also go back to Burrrn and make sure it has the correct drive. Once again, thanks.
  2. Wow, this is rapidly becoming an adventure. I did add the CD writer extension but when I get to "convert" and click on "Write audio cd" it takes me to a Microsoft download page and wants me to download smartCard_XP_x86.exe. I did download it, apparently with success, but when I get to the "write audio Cd" function it keeps taking me to the same Microsoft download page every time. I am running an HP Pavilion loaded with XP, Service Pack 3. Help????? Bill
  3. Much appreciated--one more stupid question (I am, indeed, a newbie at this stuff)-if it asks me what to convert it to, what do I pick? Will Wav. work, and if not, what would be the correct choice for redbook cd? Once again, many thanks. Bill
  4. I don't mind paying. The problem I ran into is that the instructions on the link you supplied does not match the layout of the Foobar I downloaded. I tried both the 1.1 and beta versions, but neither shows the option accessing a CD audio player. Sigh. Learning stuff is not easy. Bill
  5. Thanks, tubesound.I shall try it. I thought I read that Foobar can be complicated to use. Are there any other programs out there that are easier? Bill
  6. I downloaded a FLAC file, but can't burn it to a CD, because the CD requires a lower bit rate, etc. I have a burner, but I don't know how to convert the FLAC file to the proper bit size, etc. for CD burning. How do I go about this? Bill
