  1. I agree that we don't need any more connections or memory types, but at least this one is "better" so to speak. If it pushes the technology forward then it's worth considering. At least they had the decency to keep the other connections on the machine. If CES is any indication, there's a lot of Thunderbolt compatible devices coming down the pipeline.
  2. MIne does have Thunderbolt, I plan on using it to get HDMI out to a receiver and HDTV in case I want to watch a film or want some subwoofer in the mix.
  3. Right now I'm using a setu with Panasonis speakers, nothing to write home about. I did look into the RAM upgrade and it was cheap and easy enough to do, so I bought some, thank you for that suggestion I hadn't considered it. The SSD will have to wait some, I fully expect them to reduce in price significantly between this and next year, if CES is any indication Ultraportables are soon to be ubiquitous.
  4. That sounds interesting. I've thought about the SSD upgrade (I originally went in to get an Air) but I just got the laptop the day before yesterday, it seems a little premature to be opening it up and fiddling with. Same with the RAM. It comes with 4 GB. The thing is that I think that if I really need to make all those upgrades I would be better off selling it and buying a Windows Laptop with those specs and pocketing the difference. I do have a question about a different music player since I have a lot of FLAC files as well. I wanted to keep everything nice and neat on iTunes and all my other devices but converting all those files to ALAC would be labor intensive. On no one's advice I installed Songbird and it seems to be working well, I wonder if there's anything better out there. I will check out the ones you mentioned. What about the speakers? Will I have any problems with them?
  5. I just joined the forum, a lot of my searches ended up here so I thought I might as well. I recently purchased a MacBook Pro and I've been reading up on how to get the most of y music listening experience. I want a set-up purely for music. I play bass and listen to a good amount of music, all my files are in Apple Lossless. Stores haven't been much help, one guy suggested a 5.1 system would be "better" when music is made in stereo, or in some cases like the recent Beatles release, mono. Another guy didn't know what lossless was. I was talking to a friend who works in music production and he suggested Studio Monitors, I think it might be interesting to have and listen to music on them. I've always had overly "Bassy" set-ups and i want the benefit of the lossless audio to get in there and hear "everything" (both good and bad). So far I've purchased a couple of things, a MDP to Toslink from Monoprice, and cheap DAC just to see what it's about. I'm still trying to choose the speakers and the KRK Rokits seem to be the frontrunners. It will interesting to find out how they play with FiiO D3.
