1. I've gotten it down to a backpack for trips 3 days or less - including my laptop. For listening, it's simply an iPod classic 80Gb and Shure SExxx (I can't remember the model number - I've had them for awhile!) earphones. I bought the most expensive ones I could afford at the time - a little less than $200. They block out All of the bad sounds - plane engines, babies, etc. I tried noise cancelling headphones, but they just didn't do it for me. Maybe they've gotten better over the years, but back then there was always a low-level hiss that drove me crazy.
 2. Chris - thanks for an excellent review. I am an absolute newbie to this stuff. I have an ipod and Beyerdynamic DT-440 Headphones. All of my music currently resides on my work laptop as my home PC died a smoky death. I will be building a new PC at some point in the near future.

I would really love to get the iNova/D5 speaker combo, but it's just not in the budget at the moment. The DACiT appears to be an excellent choice for the price. I will probably be doing more headphone listening at this point anyway. What would you recommend as a good headphone amp to go along with the DACiT?

I have been perusing the site for a while and it is a great source of information. Thanks!
