You don't need spent 300-400$ for Chinese DAC). I think they afraid of 1) Take RPi 2) Put 502 above with four bolts (without soldering) 3) Put Volumio on SD card 4) Plug it with PSU from your mobile or iPAD E N J O Y MUSIC!.

Yep, We had a lot of experience with different Intel arch motherboards. As for today RPi + 502DAC hat + Moode + good linear PSU kicks — Intel motherboads with SOTM or custom ESI Juli — Auralic Aries — uRendu — SoundAware D100 Superme 502 streams so close to good old CD-players like Audio Note, Micromega. You should really need to give a try!

My vote for Raspberry Pi 3b/3b + HAT 502DAC http://www.pi2design.com/502dac.html It's truly best RPi HAT on market. It competes with Berkeley USB, SoundAware D100/D300

Hi, It was almost full AN system (amp+speakers). Yep, no DSD. Audio Note DAC 3 was from 1996. Yes, it's was better in terms of internal rhythms (joy from music). I had Eximus for 4 hours home demo. My short notes here http://soundex.ru/index.php?showtopic=34795&st=0 (only in Russian, sorry). I put it against Stello U3 + Museatex Bitstream. Eximus operates flawlessly. It's great on mood/feelings/pace reproductions. It takes you in seconds. And head amp is a killer! Never heard my Grado SR225 so good. It's great for building two system at one go: serious big system (DAC + PRE) and compact drivy headphone system. You can meet Eximus DP1 and Eximus S1 (power amp) on CES2012.
