  4. If your other sound sources sound great through your speakers, as you say, I would look for improvements in your vinyl playback chain (cartridge, turntable, phono preamp.) It sounds like you've already taken steps to improve the preamp.
  5. I picked this up in a local bookstore when it first came out when visiting Dallas, TX. I was just looking for a souvenir of my trip. What I got were clever arrangements, brilliant performances, and an audiophile-quality recording. A joy to listen to every year. 6. It sounds like the company at least suspected how you would feel before you started listening by naming the models "Less is more" and "More is less".
  7. I was finally able to purchase a JS-2 power supply for my Mytek Brooklyn DAC+ after reading about it here and also reading how @austinpopconsidered an essential companion piece of equipment. I'd loved the sound of the Brooklyn DAC+ since I first bought it but I remember its designer Michal Jurewicz saying a significantly better power supply could improve the sound but there was no room for him to include one in the small case. I was hoping to satisfy my curiosity and hear a minor improvement in the sound but what I am hearing is much more than that. My wife, who is a casual listener, remarked that "everything seems much more clear now." I'm delighted to have such an improvement for only about one third the cost of the DAC.
  8. It's amazing how she "dances" with her instrument. I guess she has to do that just to reach everything ...
  9. There's certainly value in making backup as easy and foolproof as possible. It might be nice if the unit had a timer you could set that would automatically perform the backup on a schedule (nightly, weekly, etc.) without you having to remember to push the button. One drawback would be that the backup drive is in the same physical location as the main drive, subject to theft, natural disaster, etc. If you were willing to occasionally use the screwdriver to remove the backup drive and swap it for a third drive you could work around this by taking the other drive to another location and storing it there.
  10. From The Washington Post: ‘The Harry Smith B-Sides,’ a companion piece to the curator’s 1952 collection, shows a darker side than the original. 11. Yes. Best to view it as a sentimental revisiting of a great work of art. But now that I have heard it, I feel no need to do so again.

  13. I was hoping to go see these two young artists perform locally next month but it isn't turning out to be a good time for live performances. I thought it would be interesting to see how they make the combination of acoustic guitar and jazz trombone work. Fortunately, I have had plenty of time to find and listen to their new album. They make it work! Setting Rays of Summer by Natalie Cressman & Ian Faquini https://open.qobuz.com/album/b3xl94ariovjc
