I am starting to get into the better end of computer audio, and have come to learn that DAC converters offer a huge benefit over a built in sound card (I am using a Macbook pro 2009). I am buying the Audioengine A2s, which is taking up 99% of my budget. I currently own the M-Audio Firewire Solo that I use for recording, and as I understand, the headphone out on the unit would work in the same way. Is this so? would the gain from buying a unit like the Audioengine D1 be noticeable over the Solo?
