  1. One of you may have an idea Honestly I'm really hesitating between the "pro" line and the Xeo's. If Xeo's are not "easier to use" in terms of listening position, I'll go for the LYD, which are cheaper.
  2. Does any you think that there might be major differences between the listening experience of pro monitor models (BM, LYD...) and "hifi amateurs" models (Xeo...) in terms of stereo wideness/narrowness ? Pro monitors are usually used at close and very axial positions, I wonder if Xeos etc are more 'user-friendly' regarding the position of the listener (wider stereo zone)
  3. And have you ever tested the BM series ?
  4. Unfortunately, Focus 200 are definetely out of my budget... Does anybody know about any difference between the LYD series and X14a ? Both share analog-only inputs, Class D bi-amp, DSP... I wonder how different they may sound.
  5. Hi, Have some of you already listened to the different monitors of the Dynaudio active range ? For a "hifi" usage (15 sq rt room), I'm hesitating between the different products - Dynaudio BM5 (the classic studio monitor, requires a DAC) - Dynaudio LYD5 (the new model, also requires a DAC) - Dynaudio Xeo 2 (more expensive, with a DAC, or rather a full-digital amplification that also acts as a DAC) - Dynaudio Excite X14a (more more expensive) In fact I guess the last 2 models, though more expensive, are also less "professionnal" and more "audio geeks", with a inferior quality/price ratio. Moreover, I see some risk in investing in a DAC embedded in the speakers, because good speakers may easily last 10 years, whereas DACs evolve very fast. But I also know that Dynaudio has a very good reputation and I would be kind surprised if Xeo 2 et Excite X14a were actually overpriced regarding "cheaper" BM/LYD monitors. So I guess that there might be actually be a gap in terms of sound quality. Do you have some advice ? Thanks !
  6. Hello, I'm wondering if when using Dynaudio BM or LYD series monitor (I've not chosen yet), which have both RCA and XLR inputs, I will be able to plug sources to both XLR and RCA inputs. One source would get to XLR and the other one would get to RCA. Of course I don't mean to send sound simultaneously to both entries, but I want to be sure that the monitor has no problem with that king of "double-pluging", and that I won't have to switch anything manually to use RCA or XLR entry when using one source then another. Thanks !
  7. Ok, thanks for your answer ! Do you know what happens in case of "conflict" ? e.g. : sound playing on USB input, and another signal "suddenly" comes to toslink input ? does the DAC automatically switch ?
  8. Hi, I'm looking for a "user friendly" DAC with the following functionnalities : (a) at least one optical input (b) automatic power down (standby mode) © when a signal is back, automatic wake and switch to the active input A few DACs (Cambridge DAC Magic 100, Teac UD-50x) have the standby feaure, but (b) seems much more tricky : DM100 wakes to the last active input before standby (not necessarily the one that wakes the DAC), UD-50x has to be powered up manually... In fact, as you may have guessed, I'm just looking for a DAC that I could completely "forget" : no need to turn it on, no need to turn it off Thanks for your help !
  9. You're right... Does anybody know about such a DAC ?
  10. Hello, To get a more compact installation than my current "TC BMC-2 + Genelec 8020A" combination, i'm looking for some active speakers with optical input and DAC inside. I aldready found this : - ELAC AM 180 - Genelec 8130 APM Do you know these ? Do you know similard speakers ? Thanks !
  11. Hello all, 1) Is BMC-2 compatible with Audirvana integer mode ? 2) Is there any "trick" to configure Audirvana at its best, when using BMC-2 ? Thanks !
  12. Thanks ! Which input do you prefer on your BMC-2 ? Optical or coaxial ? Do you use a hiface ? BMC-2 is said to have a great jitter reduction.
  13. Hello all, I'm looking for a DAC to feed my Genelec 8020, XLR inputs. Sources : MacBook Pro or AirPort Express, optical outputs. Interested in 2 products : TC BMC-2 or RME Babyface. What's the difference between both ? Babyface is more a sound card but can I use it as any "normal" DAC with optical input ? Finally, what should I choose ? Thanks !!!
