  1. By the way; I bought mine without the USB option as I already have a HiFace USB/SPDIF converter. I do sort of think that the Schiit implementation could be better, but since I could order it later, I opted out at the time. It kind of worries me a little though, that Schiit has this antipathy towards async USB. After all, how does a computer audiophile transport to the DAC in the first place (realizing of course that there are other transports...) If anything async USB ought to be fantasticly clear of jitter, but what do I know...
  2. Oh it's a while back, cross-atlantic shipment to Denmark. But let's see: - ordered 2/1 - shipping confirmation 5/1 So they were quick to ship this. Then it went across the atlantic with US postal and ended up being stopped for tax processing - they required extra documentation of the purchase order. But the important delta here for you must be the time between ordering and shipping and 3 days is pretty fast, considering the backlog they had for a long time.
  3. I received my Bifrost today. It has been playing for approx. 2 hours and is about the same temperature as my hand. I'd say temperature is under control. This Schiit is cool enough. Love the sound of it so far; but am constantly tempted to amp up the volume, which is not so good since my room acoustics is still subpar. Count me in as a very satisfied customer so far. I love these guys - their philosophy and attitude. :-)

    Class D

Two questions. 1.) In an objective sense (neutrality, hard facts, measurements, blind tests), what are the best performing Class D amplifiers (incl. amplifier modules) to date? I have read many good things about both ICEpower and Hypex (esp. the new Ncore modules). To be honest Hypex has peaked my interest the most. 2.) What companies sell Hypex (Ncore) based amplifiers (not DIY) in a "non high-end price range"?
  5. "How the signal is moved across these interfaces, and the involvement/non-involvement of the CPU with that, might also potentially affect the sound." How about the electric characteristics of the signal feeding the USB DAC? Could that potentially interfere with the audiocircuitry? The PC is not exactly a "noise-free" environment after all, in the electric sense.
  6. Has anyone tried to use another PSU for the new DacMagic Plus from Cambridge Audio? Any advice on this and candidate replacement PSU's welcome. Thanks!
