  1. Hi Folks, First, thanks so very much for your input. Since your comments: - Audio/MIDI sample rate is confirmed set to 44.100 Khz, and Moon DAC is registering correct sample rate. - Firewire connectivity between HD & MBP is now in place. (great call!). - I've played around a bit with speaker placement, much to my happiness. - I've looked at a couple of the music players recommended. Amarra had a sale on the mini for $195, that was suppose to expire last night, though it's still up on the site. Guess nobody's monitoring that. Is the mini worth it, or is it just another way to overcharge because the term "audiophile" is associated with it? The audirvana site has some useful information on it, all of it hiding somewhere in plain sight. I did see that Lion is no longer supporting "integer mode". I only have Lion 10.7.2. I have no current ability, or real desire, to roll back to Snow Leopard. Does this pose an actual problem, or could I proceed with purchasing audirvana plus, without deleterious affect? My MBP is from June 2008, and has 2GB of RAM. Do you know if this will be problematic with the incorporation of a new music player? Regarding wireless. The hope was to be able to use the laptop as a remote (along with its other intended uses). The airport express's usb port is for printer support only, best I could tell. The apple TV only has a mini usb port. The airport extreme doesn't do iTunes. Other words, don't know how i'll approach the wireless aspect yet. All of the above also seems to take the Halide Bridge out of the equation. I don't view removal of the Halide as viable (it's already proven itself to be invaluable with my current set-up. That about sums it up for now. Once again, thanks for all your valuable input. It is greatly appreciated, as is any and all additional input.
  2. Hi Folks, New here, and getting into computer audio. I don't have much understanding, currently. Don't even know the right questions to ask, so please, laugh in private I have: MacBook Pro iTunes only Audio File Format: AIFF Bit Rate: 1411 Kbps Sample Rate: 44.100 Khz CD's ripped: over 1000 1 external 2 Terabyte HD, stock USB cable from drive into MacBook (all music backed up to another drive, and I have all cd's) Halide USB/Spdif Bridge into Moon 100D DAC Moon 100D, RCA into Krell s-300i integrated Ayre cx7e-mp CDP XLR into Krell (definitely keeping the Ayre) All interconnects & speaker wire: Audience AU24e I also have: AirPort Express, Apple TV, Apple Time Capsule (I'd like to dump the Time Capsule) Observations: Moon 100D sample rate indicator defaults too 48.200 Khz (is this correct?) Soundstage has opened nicely with the addition of the Halide Bridge (it seems I need to adjust speaker placement) Don't know where to go from here. Do I dump iTunes for another music player? Do I rip the cd's again using some other format? Am I doing anything glaringly wrong...or right? Any next step suggestions? I would like to go wireless. What to do here? Any and all input is greatly appreciated. Hope all have had a blissful holiday season, and that it continues through the New year.
