  1. I just found a way: log into Wimp webplayer, then navigate to any existing playlist of your own and have a look at the URL in your browser. it should look similiar to this: https://play.wimpmusic.com/playlist/6009196c-22f0-48f1-b5f4-e8fc26bc4c44 now mark the numbers and letters after the last slash and exchange it for this: 356c4693-0889-4ad3-ab13-79c90724eb28 Now Wimp's webplayer should show the CA Top 100 Playlist. Although in my webplayer it shows only 90 titles. That cpuld be a copyright issue. Mark it as favourite and it's saved to your playlists.
  2. FWIW, since 2 weeks I have an external power supply from http://www.squeeze-upgrade.com/index.php?language=en Definitely worth the money spent (€105). The Sound became much more transparent and resolution got a lot better too. The plug goes between the USB cable and the converter. It breaks the power line from the PC side.
  3. but use shielded ones when you put them beside powerlines!
  4. I'm on vacation right now... Ad 1) no, not with the hardware I used. I forgot to mention, my pc has a samsung 64gb ssd as drive as bootdrive and a wd 2tb as source drive. Ad 2) the case comes already damped. See here: http://www.fractal-design.com/?view=product&category=2&prod=68 There are also 2 140mm fans included with Fan controller (max 3fans). As long as they are running at lowest speed, which is sufficient for my hardware, they are not audible within 50 cm. The Cpu has an Arctic Cooler freezer 7 pro, which isn't audible too as it runs al the time at lowest speed. Even with Prime95 the Cpu doesn't get hotter than 40C. Ad3) yes. With foobar alone for mp3 or shoutcast radio, as well as with the jplay plugin for flac files. As kernel mode doesn't work I use Asio and Wasapi in jplay. Regards, Tom
  5. for me they're pretty much crap - at best average. About 3 Month ago I too buildt a music PC loosely based on the caps 2.0. The board I choose was an Intel Media Series DH67BLB3 Socket 1155 Desktop Mainboard (Micro ATX, Intel H67, 4x DDR3 Slots, 2x USB 3.0) Memory: 4x2 GB Kingston PC3-10600 CPU: Pentium G620T (Core-i3 based, but with less cache and no hyperthreading) Powersupply: Sea Sonic X-Series Fanless X-400FL 400W ATX 2.3 Case: Fractal Design Define R3 sound damped And since I didn't want to jump yet on the USB->Spdif converter train, I choose the Esi Juli@ for digital output. Software: Win7 professional 64bit, Foobar, Jplay I run the Juli@ in Asio mode and Jplay with "direct" buffer setting (1 sample) in Wasapi mode. Kernel mode doesn't work, but I think that's a matter of Jplay and not of the Juli@ This combination works fine with flac or wav files up to 192khz files (192khz tested with an different dac than mine). And best of all I reached my goal to beat my trusted Teac P500 Cd Transport hands down in terms of soundquality. Btw, I've an IT backgound for around 20 years. And that mostly on the Hardware and OS side. So without bragging, I pretty much know what I'm doing. greetings, Tom
  6. point of view, I see no reason why it shouldn't work. The only drawback you'll have is that it'll be slower than over cable.
  7. has no digital output. I had my hands on it the other day. In fact I'm not aware of any notebook that has a digital out. The dockingstation of my Acer Travelmate has a Toslink output. It's ok for my office system, but not for serious listening. So Toslink isn't the way you want to go. Depending on how much you want to spend I suggest an USB converter from M2Tech Hiface, Hiface Evo, JKenny Hiface, Stello U3, Audiophileo 1&2 - just to name a few
  8. does the trick with Pocketcloud. It shows the mousecursor. And it has the advantage over RDP that it can be set not to lock the PC when you end the session. www.tightvnc.com (freeware) This one also helps a lot: http://www.amazon.com/Bamboo-Stylus-for-iPad-CS100K/dp/B004VM0SE6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1326202175&sr=8-1
  9. This is what I do: copy this line into a textfile. Name it eg. musikcopy.bat and start it robocopy x:source_directory y:destination_directory /E /XO /R:2 /W:5 /NP It will copy all new files and folders (and only these) which are not in the destination_directory to it. Much faster than any filemanager.
  10. But be careful in Summertime (depending on where you live). If you'll need fans then have a look at these: http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=productview&products_id=9&lng=en Not the cheapest but extremly low noise and come with adaptors to lower the speed. they also come with 4 Vibration-Compensators to mount them on the case instead of screws. Use one for in and one for out.
  11. when you're using a fanless powersupply. Depending on the workload (harddrives, graphiccard, cpu, etc.) of your PC, it can also produce considerable heat. So ensure you have good airflow in your case. Besides that, Seasonic makes some very good and long lasting ps. I have one in my music pc too.
  12. For the last 3 years I listen to a Lyngdorf SDAI-2175 and still like it a lot. When we had it demoed at our home, my wife - who's a trained musician - said after a few minutes: buy it, it's good and sounds right! But this amp would be something better suited for your larger system. Best thing would be to listen to some amps in your home with your system. For me only three things matters: sound quality, built quality and usability (RC). Besides that I don't care what's inside the box.
  13. I played quite a bit with it, when I set up my new music pc. WEC7 is based on Win7 and uses the same technology as the other win7 Versions, so it's also driver and software compatible. It comes in 32 and 64bit versions too. But when you install Windows Audio there are lot of dependecys to other packages which WEC7 apparently needs. So in the end the footprint on the hd isn't much smaller than a stripped down Windows 7 professional. Btw memory usage is about the same then. And it's not so easy to get it legally. See here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsembedded/en-us/evaluate/windows-embedded-compact-7.aspx greets, Tom
