For taking time to write.... I'll look online for local dealers and hopefully get the chance to audition one.. Otherwise i'll have to take advantage of distance selling laws :-) I'll be running either an iMac or Macbook Air with Amarra so should get that more relaxed sound you mention.. Cheers Again Mike

Has anybody any experience of the M2Tech Palmer Power Station ? and will it improve the sound of the DAC Young to a detectable degree ? and if so how does it influence it ? Rather a novice question i know.. But this is my first DAC so its all new ground... Cheers

WDW Please don't feel like I was targeting you... I really have no axe to grind I am neither in the industry or of the flat earth society... I'm happy to be convinced either way..... But coming from a metrology background where controlled repeatable measurements are imperative and anything else is worthless... So some published trials would be a good read... Cheers Mike

WDW.... You mention science in your post to Julf... Has there actually been any controlled repeatable blind testing showing individuals (professional and hobbyist) been able to discern clear differences in digital cables ? I'd be very interested to read them as I myself have become cynical.... Mike

I really wanted to be able to hear a difference over USB so I joined two 5 meter cables And compared it with the bundled one that came With my DAC Young...... Unfortunately i could hear no discernible difference...

I compared a couple of cables with my DAC and personally couldn't detect a difference.. That said i compared different quality/length HDMI cables by playing a hi res image through them to my LCD TV and there was a clear difference... so i have an open mind... I wonder if there would be anything gained by playing a similar image from a USB drive down different quality cables... given you could use two monitors and compare the images directly and not rely on memory ?
