  1. I must say, the Lindemann 24/192 DAC sounds really great! Even better than the Wavelength Proton which I've been thoroughly enjoying for the past 3 months. I'm still breaking in the Lindemann. It may be my imagination, but the bass response from the Lindemann seems somewhat lower than the Proton and I have to adjust my subwoofer to boost the bass a bit. The Lindemann frequency response sounds more "balanced" than the Proton. I do not know why DAC's would or should produce such a different frequency response, but my ears don't lie. Clarity is superb. I like that it can automatically upsample to 24/192. Excellent value for money, IMHO.
  2. I've just purchased a Lindemann 24/192 USB DAC...it should arrive early next week. My current DAC is a Wavelength Proton which I love. I'm upgrading my wife's system, so will give her the Proton and install the Lindemann in our main system downstairs.
  3. Working together with Sonic Solutions tech support, we appear to have isolated the root cause of the problem to Airfoil. I was using Airfoil when connected directly to my Proton USB DAC, as was required when playing back via my wifi network. Exiting Airfoil eliminated the stutter during playback of 24/96 tracks via the USB DAC.

    Amarra 2.3

I don't run Amarra on a dedicated music server and cannot go to the extreme of re-imaging Lion or partitioning my HD...besides, I'm still using Snow Leopard. Besides, the only problem I'm experiencing is the skipping in mid track on 24/96 tracks....no other issues. A simpler solution seems warranted. The path of least resistance for me is probably to try another player.

    Amarra 2.3

I've been having a similar problem of skips throughout each track, but only on 24 bit x 96 kHz FLAC tracks, with or without cache mode. I normally operate with cache mode on. Cache mode doesn't stop the skips, which appear to occur at random times on every track. However, lower resolution tracks (16 bit Apple Lossless and 24 bit x 44 kHz FLAC formats) appear to play perfectly.
  6. Every time I play 24bit/96kHz FLAC files downloaded from HDTracks using Amarra Mini 2.3.2, and now version 2.3.3, I experience random stuttering on every song. Problem persists with and without cache mode. Lower bit/sample rate music plays fine. I believe I've switched off everything needing switching off, but the problem persists...but only with the 96kHz music. Had same problem pre-DAC using Airport Express>RCA connection to amp. Amarra customer support have not answered my last 4 emails on this subject. I'm ready to ditch Amarra and look for another player. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any suggestions?
