  1. I see. Mitchco is using Audiolense to supply the linear phase digital XO at 70 Hz and time alignment to the LS50’s. He’s also using , Audiolense to apply DRC, both in the frequency and time domains. The combo of subs and DRC fill in the low end frequency response and gets rid most of the nulls at 70 and 80 Hz. It doesn’t appear that the LS50W built-in controls offer enough horsepower or granularity (ie, phase control, bass extension, sub out low pass frequency, sub gain, sub polarity, wall distance) to achieve the same results Mitchco is getting using Audiolense. I suppose the only real way to know if the KEF’s/Rythmik sub can be integrated to achieve the same in-room response is to measure them in a similar way done in the article.
  2. @mitchco, great evaluation. I always enjoy reading your articles. Do you have any idea if these results can be obtained using the active version of the KEF LS50, the LS50W’s? I’m thinking maybe not since the LS50W’s are active and there’s no way to get the audiolense corrected subwoofer signal into the LS50W signal path. I’m unsure given the LS50W’s only have a subwoofer out. 😐 If I can’t build it with the LS50W’s I might just look at replacing them with a pair of non-active versions and build it that way. Your results are amazing and previously I thought I could only get these results with something much more expensive like the Dutch & Dutch, Kii’s, or Genelecs. The fact I can get measured, repeatedly good in-room audio performance for under $3000 is amazing 😉 . Kudos to you for putting this evaluation together.
  3. I don't see why a regular splitter out of the LS50W wouldn't work.
  4. You have 2 choices. 1. MiniMserver 2. Audio Station You can use BubbleUPNP as the control point for MiniMServer. You can use the LS50 Wireless app and the Audio Station built-in app to control music. The LS50 Wireless app is terrible as a control point. There is no Tidal support, nor gapless playback nor any other moderately advanced music playing control. ? I use the MiniMServer and the Bubble UPNP app to control music my Synology DS213j.
  5. Yes the speakers will be just fine in the room at either location. Your listening position at either location is close enough to give the speakers a good chance of sounding good. I say a good chance of sounding good because you never can tell how any speaker will perform in a room. Only testing the speaker in the domain will tell you. But yes technically the speakers will work perfectly fine.
  6. You'd get sound of course out of that setup, but unfortunately your listening position nor the speaker placement are optimal for these speakers for the following reasons: Distance to listening position Listening Position I'd suggest you put the speakers on front wall facing the couch that the left speaker is facing. Or re-position the couch to face the other wall where the right speaker is. Either of those speaker position will give you an equidistant speaker position from the side wall which is critical to proper stereo imaging and musical sound reproduction.
  7. You are correct ejlif, the LS50 Wireless's do not auto wake up. You can however increase the timeout time. I got this trick from Erwin @ Darko's website. I know this isn't a solution to your problem, but maybe it will ameliorate it somewhat...
  8. Thanks Darwin. I deleted the post because I believe I resolved the issue. I haven't had the chance to fully test it out but at least for now it appears to be fixed. Thomas
  9. Thanks Barrows. I'm replacing the Mojo, hopefully with another Chord but that's up in the air.
  10. High accolades for the Mojo which supports Mr. Watts assertion that it can compete with much more expensive DAC's. I recently tested the Mojo against the Aries Mini analog output (9018K2M). It was no contest, in my system the Mojo smokes the Aries Mini.
  11. The PowerPort 5 was "tested" by a user over on the Chord Mojo thread at HeadFi.org as being the quietest power supply of the ones he tested. My system has been in flux lately and the noise and hum are present when I sub in this or that amp or preamp into the system. Presently as I stated previously, there is no agregious noise and no hum in my system. However, from all that I've read on the Mojo thread @ HeadFi.org, on which the Mojo's designer Rob Watts posts regularly, there is noise on the ground anytime a PC or Audio Processor like an Aries Mini is connected to the system. So, the way I understand it is that unless the ground plane is dealt with, their will be noise. It may not be immediately noticeable as noise however... The designer states this about ground noise:
  12. That Anker PowerPort+1 outputs DC Output :5 V - 3 A which is more than the Mojo requires. Are you sure it's the PowerPort +1 and not the PowerPort 5 I've seen recommended on headfi? I tried an iPhone 5v/1a adapter, using the optical output along with a different integrated amp eliminated the detectable hum and noise. Since the Mojo isn't galvanically I imagine there is still ground noise which can be addressed with a USB ISOLATOR like the Intona device, this according to the DAC's designer.
  13. I had a ground loop with this system; I do not have a ground loop that I can detect with this system; I do not have a dedicated audio circuit in my system and so wouldn't be able to test the lines in that fashion.
