  1. I very much agree with your Firedog. It is a great shame.
  2. It is a shame all the old rock and jazz sacd's cannot not be purchased as downloads!
  3. Thanks a lot! Indeed, that price is a bit steep!!!
  4. Do you know where it is possible to buy old SACDs? IS there any good sites? I am in particular looking for Jeff Buckley's Grace.....
  5. I am wondering if the ZEN stream work with the MYTEK Brooklyn + DAC? Sometimes the drivers of DAC's make them incompatible with different audio devices and I have found it hard to identify whether the USB of Zen Stream just work with all DACS?
  6. Sorry asking again - so you think that a 5 Meter firewire cable would work music wise?
  7. Thanks a lot - but does that mean that it can play music without loosing anything. At the moment I have a 1/2 meter firewire cable only......
  8. My Mac mini 2011 is breaking down and I want to use my iMac to play my MYTEK DSD 192 dac. However, this implies that I either have to move mys desk or use a firewire cable from the thunderbolt adapter of the iMac to the DAC which is maybe five meter long. So my questions is whether such a long firewire cable works for music?
  9. Is the mytek firewire driver compatible with macOS High Sierra?
  10. I understand - but I presume the Ultrarendu will not be the restrictive factor in the setup.....
  11. Thanks so much for this excellent and informative answer. I presume the OPPO 205 is then supported up to DSD512....?
  12. I have a question, because I have read that the Ultra Rendu needs to be compatible with the DACS in order to stream the full range of audio formats. I am currently owner of a MYTEK192DSD dac and plan to by the new OPPO 205 4K player. Can the Ultra Rendu stream DSD128 to my MYTEK DAC? And how does it work with the new OPPO 205 - the latter can take DSD512 through the USB DAC built in. I wonder if the Ultra Rendu can stream DSD512 to the OPPO? Answers would be very much appreciated!

    HQ Player

I am currently running Roon on a Mac mini (mid 2011) 2,7 Ghz intel Core i7, 8 GB and it often stumbles a bit when doing upsampling to DSD128. I was wondering whether using my iMac (late 2012) 3,2 GHz Intel Core i5, 32 GB RAM would make a difference? I would need to connect the latter with a firewire cable around 4,5 meters long and also use a thunderbolt to firewire adapter. But I hope that will work despite the length of the cable.....But do you think it is worth it - will the iMac do a better job with HQplayer?
  14. HI there, I have a question regarding my good old mytek 192. I would like to hook it up with a new iMac instead of my old Mac mini and want to do this with a firewire cable. However, I cannot fully remember what firewire cable I would need. Is a 6-9 Firewire 800 cable suitable? (www.av-connection.dk/?PNo=LDY30768) As far as I recall, it had to be a 400/800 firewire cable? Also to connect it to the iMac I would need a thunderbolt to firewire connector. From what I have read on a Mac homepage it seems there is a problem connecting an iMac through the thunderbolt connector to firewire if it needs to talk with a 400 connector in the other end (like the mytek) and that a Moshi Firewire 800 Cable with Firewire 400 to 800 Adapter is also necessary. I was therefore wondering if anybody has the setup running I am trying to create?? Is it as complicated as it is beginning to look? And then my final questions: I would need to use a firewire cable 4,5 meters long - does that work with music at all? ----- I hope somebody has a good solution to all these questions! Thanks in advance!
