  1. I realize that this forum may be too professional for what I'm seeking, but I thought I'd give it a shot anyway. After looking over many of the posts from others, I haven't quite found what I'm looking for, so, here goes... I'm seeking a device that has the following characteristics: 1) Interface to a main PC via USB (AKA 'server'), 2) Multiple mono inputs (4/8/16/24 channels), 3) Multiple mono outputs (4/8/16/24 channels), 4) Low quality audio (telephony/two-way radio) inputs via 1/8" mono jacks, or RJ-45/RJ-11 connections, 5) Software selectable routing. I'm hoping this same device can be used at multiple computer locations across a private intranet (LAN): 1) Remote PC can select audio channels from the above item, 2) Remote PC will output via USB to an output device, 3) The output device will individually be connected to an amplified speaker with it's own volume control (up to 8 per remote PC). 4) Remote PC will have to return 2 to 4 audio paths (handset/headset) back to the main PC. The intention of this set of devices is to mux (NOT MIX) together remote two-way radios, and various other low-level audio signals, and present them to remote PCs via LAN (AKA 'turret' or 'position'), have the remote PC capable of selecting the channels they want, and be amplified there. There can be anywhere from 2 to 100 turrets in any given scenario. Currently we're hard-wiring all audio paths from a remote COM/Radio room (piping the audio paths via long runs of wire), and presenting the audio to amplifiers at each of the 'turrets' for operator use. This has the tendency of picking up stray noises, as well as can be a wiring nightmare in the main distribution room. The LAN is already in place due to other requirements of the job, so piggy-backing this audio solution is by far an easier concept. By the way, I'm not looking for something in the professional audio range. The bandwidth for the type of audio I'm dealing with would be a waste, plus the type of connections need be simpler/cheaper/buy-off-the-shelf-at-Radio Shack, if you get my meaning. Any ideas?
