The airport express only plays 16/44.1 through it's optical output, also to get your Mac to recognize your dac it would have to be plugged directly into a USB output on your mbp. Using a program like decibel you could then select your dac from it's preferences window and watch as you dac automatically changes it's sample rate as the sample rate of the material you're playing changes.

I'm having issues playing 24/88.2 files on my macbook pro. Whether letting decibel control the output resolution of my music streamer II, or if I change the settings in Audio/Midi setup and listen with iTunes I'm experiencing the same effect. Eventually a little crackling then the track goes silent. I've had said issue with Flac and Aiff. 16/44.1 plays fine, as does 24/96. I don't know if I just need more ram, I have 2gigs right now, but I would think this would happen at 24/96, or with any larger files if that were the case. I'm lost. Jeff
