  1. My parents were post war Ukranian refugees. I'll have a look. Edit had a look classical only.
  2. I think Damien had no choice. I'm sure that I am not alone alternating listening between audrivana plus and ROON. With the subscription model for AS, no way when I have a lifetime ROON subscription. Early days of ROON there was a noticeable SQ difference that ROON has closed. Streaming services are integrated. Why would I go back to library only. Sorry the horse has bolted.
  3. Listened to this last night. The remixing of the original 24/96 recordings to "raw", voice and instruments only with no reverb, echo etc brought tears to my eyes.
  4. I replaced my airport expresses with Yamaha WXAD-10's music cast. Very happy compared to the airport expresses.
  5. I am an early adopter of ROON and lifer. Loved it until a passage of music was muffled. Listening with A+ it was clear and well defined. Further A/B I found A+ much superior. Using HQPlayer's computer upsampling Roon's SQ improved to rival or excel A+. However I found using A+ on its own much easier and have not found it buggy. However I use both happily on all my systems around the house as an improvement on Itunes.
  6. Oh, I remember this in the seventies broadcast on arts TV in Oz. Amazed but much later when I tried to source couldn't even find who the performance was by. Must have been way pre google or even alta vista! Thankyou for the link but I guess impossible to source now. I do see it is on youtube, not the same as 24/96 quoted in your link.
  7. The Carmina Burana version at Linn Records was from Deutche Grammaphon. Linn ceased third party downloads some time ago. Here is a link to the version I posted, ORFF Carmina Burana / Janowitz, Jochum - 1 CD / Download - Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft
  8. His (presumed not hers) power amp in Australia is listed at 8K, again not cheap and more than I could justify for one component, My whole system of Schitt multibit Dac, Rega Brio intergrated amp and epos speakers comes to less than half the price of one component and he/she finds $500 a problem! I have no problems with people spending large amounts on audiophile equipment but do when they complain of the price of much smaller amounts of money for software and HD downloads. Just for the record the above system driven by Roon with HQPlayer is greater than A+ both visually and SQ.
  9. To #beerandmusic I am getting quite angry about your rants when your proflle lists speakers that googling price them at more than double the price of my car. I could never justify the price of B&W speakers let alone the Nautilus range and you quibble about $500. Give me a break.
  10. OK may be wrong about 60's but all the tracks played would still be classified as classic rock. I love how eclectic Radio Paradise is and was just asking if what I listened to was typical of JBradio. Not meant as a criticism just looking for my diverse taste in music.
  11. With Radio Paradise my favourite was interested in your suggestion and added to ROON. When classic rock meets the blues, modern rock mingled rhythmically with indie and pop mixed with a bit of electronic music... So far after listening for an hour have just heard classic rock from the 60's. Do we get other era's and genre's?

  13. Wrong, where did you get that idea from, pirated software? Most software has a restriction of installing on 2 pc's or mac's. Read the licence agreements for Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Word, even Audrivana +. None of these allow unlimited installation on multiple computers, just 2. HQplayer 1 only. ROON allows 1 PC/MAC with music stored wherever eg HDD and then how many you like end points albeit from same HDD on the same network. But it can play different tracks on multiple computers from the one HDD. I don't understand your complaint. Edit. Oh by the way when you buy applications from Apple App Store how may computers can you LEGALLY install it on? let me guess unlimited? 20? maybe 10 actually limited to 5 machines. Not as many as you want, that's the licence.
  14. Have to agree, at a conservative 30 minutes per album that's 250 non stop days of playing. Also don't understand why the OP is mouthing off here after his rant https://community.roonlabs.com/t/trying-out-roon-what-a-mess/8980 "don't want to sound like a jerk", guess what!
