  1. I run mpd + pulseaudio on a headless ubuntu linux server. I primarily access and stream my music collection via http using the mpdroid app for android phone. Works flawlessly. However, when I recently tried to run the server to a speaker locally (in my home), the volume is at best, faint. I'm not so savvy with it comes to pulseaudio. Is their a command line fix that anyone can suggest? Thanks:-)
  2. Dude, as of this writing, I am streaming glorious music from my headless Ubuntu server to my Android phone! It took months and all of a sudden you just come out of the shadows and drop your wisdom....just like that. You're a lifesaver...or at least my evening just got a whole lot better. Thanks bud:)
  3. I'll give your instructions a shot and see if I can pick up from there. Rock on.
  4. Thanks for the awesome and detailed response, but I'm working with a headless Ubuntu server (no GUI). I need to be able to work from the terminal window exclusively. My primary goal is to stream from the headless server to my android phone. Forgive me if I seem to be missing something. In any event, thank you again for taking the time to post.
  5. Hi there. I was able to reconfigure mpd so that it no longer crashes, but now find myself without sound at playback on my android phone. Literally, I'm getting flawless streaming with album artwork, access to my music library, etc., but no sound. I believe that I have the right permissions set to allow the user "mpd" to access pulseaudio, but perhaps I'm still missing something. So, from the point that I am currently operating, can anyone provide a step by step to get the sound up and running? I find some of the official documention at the wiki page somewhat confusing at times. Thanks to both previous responses to my earlier inquiry.
  6. Was wondering if anyone could suggest what I might be doing wrong here. I have mpd configured (/etc/mpd.conf) on my headless Ubuntu 11.04 server so that I can stream via http to my Android phone. When I start MPDroid on my phone, I get about a minutes worth of playback on a selected track and then it just disconnects followed by a message: "Connection to MPD-Server failed! Check if the Server is running and reachable. (pool-108.xx.xxx.xxx.nycnny.fios.verizon.net/108.xx.xxx.xxx:6600 - Connection refused)". If after this I run ps aux | grep mpd on my server, it reports that mpd isn't running, at which point I have to restart the process. Basically, mpd is crashing when try to connect from my Android phone. Verizon confirms that they aren't blocking either ports 6600 or 8000. Clearly I am doing enough right that I get some connection. So what might I be doing wrong in my configuration? Any help is greatly appreciated.
