  1. Yes. You can get a discount code (for upgrading = 15% off). I upgraded too and noticed a big improvement in CPU usage. Didn't get a chance to listen, just played some tracks with the system off and observing the CPU load on the i9 server.
  2. Same here. Much better reliability with NAA Image from Holo Red with Euphony OS doing duty running Roon Core + HQPd.
  3. Hi Giuseppe from Canada I have owned (and love) the Rockna Wavelight DAC since 2020. It is sensitive to up-stream components (i.e. streamer, USB cable, Power cord, and Fuse). As well as the software. I use HQPLayer up-sampler and set the DAC to NOS. It is glorious. All that said, I also really like the DACs built in filters, and if I wasn't using HQPlayer I would use Rockna's Linear Filter. To me, this DAC strikes a good balance between presence, detail, and musicality. It allows the speakers to disappear and sounds fantastic on all music types. It is a software defined DAC, meaning that the R2R ladder is implemented in an FPGA. I can listen for hours without fatigue, but it is by far not a boring, or uninvolving-sounding DAC. Thanks Lou
  4. I putzed around for 2 hours, got AudioLinux installed and configured, spent the next 4 or 5 listening to music. It sounds glorious! Might be good enough. Running hqplayerd and controlling from Roon. Brought it down to an absolute minimum install. Now for more music ;-)
  5. Since I am off work and we are getting hit with a crazy winter storm, I am going to putz around with Audio Linux... :-)
  6. Have you been able to compare the sound of the Grimm to the DIY running Euphony?
  7. Well said. Couldn't agree more - I see you are in Canada - I am in Ontario ;-) I have tried JPLAY, used to use it exclusively (several years ago). I recently tried it again. For me having to futz around with Windows + AO optimizer +++ was not cool. Windows was not designed to be a headless OS, yes you can do it, but still not as clean compared to a small real-time linux install. In the end my most recent attempt at trying JPLAY again, I didn't think it sounded as good. If there was a JPLAY option for Linux, then I would be all over it. HQplayer embedded + JPLAY on Linux would be quite possibly a game changer. The JCAT x streamer looks promising. Noticed a couple of posts over on What's Best Forum.
  8. The challenge is that for us in the DIY crowd I am not sure there is a better sounding app / OS combo. Personally, I am torn on this topic. I do not mind paying the subscription fee, but with that I have a bit of an expectation that software should be updated. Not likely going to be the same rate as Roon, but update cadence is a big, unanswered question. With Euphony, nothing is documented wrt update cadence, so there should be no expectations. That said, I would think quarterly or twice a year would be a great start. I am worried that if something happens to Robert his customers are left in the dust. Alternatives - sure - for the DIY crowd, but I think even worse from a support standpoint, and based on comparisons I have done, none of them sound as good. The only other option, if one doesn't want a windows install is to consider purchasing a commercial product. I dont think I am there yet, but who knows.... sometimes I think all the achita, headaches, etc may not be worth it. Not to mention, the commercial products are expensive...
  9. I agree with this completely. v4 is running just fine for me, but I believe there has been a couple of beta releases, that have yet to be released as stable updates. It would be nice to have some visibility into what is being worked on - perhaps once per quarter?
  10. Wow.... only 1 hw change per year.... I'm playing around with gentoo player comparing against euphony. Same hqplayer config on the back end.... we will see...
  11. 😁 all that said above, Euphony still sounds glorious, and I have no plans to replace it.
  12. I agree completely. That said I know Euphony development team is small, but I feel like there have been a few betas out, would be nice to at least have some rough timeline for next stable release?
  13. A reboot seemed to fix the issue. Update is good. Now just need to spend some time listening :-)
  14. Is anyone having issues with the update? I completed the update and now cannot connect.... I can get to the launch page, so the system is up, but when I try to connect - getting a host unreachable error. Will try rebooting. Will give it another few minutes. I am thinking the update didn't complete correctly....
