Thanks to all of you for your input much appreciated. Seems I have some decisions to make. On another topic the photo on the Schiit website shows the Valhalla sitting on top of the Bifrost. I also noted the ventilation holes for the bifrost are on the top. Does anyone have their units arranged this way? I am worried about overheating the Bifrost? But if I can arrange them in this fashion the RCA cable runs would be quite short. Thank You Larry Young

Hi all, I started my working career at Macdonalds,$1.25 (CDN) an hour then graduated to "Harveys". making $2.25 an hour. Got me through High School. Started serious classical music listenning when I was around 14. I know what a geek! helped alleviate migranes.. Those part time jobs got me the funds to purchase my first stereo system when I was 18, Can't remember the components think it was Pioneer from a place in Ottawa known for fairly high end equipment, cant remeber them either, OK memory is going! Several years after I got married, bought my second system in mid 80's comprised of Rotel CD player, integrated amp,AM/FM Tuner, and cassette player. Had to replace the Rotel in 1998 and did so with another Rotel RCC 945, Output to Linn floor speakers. I am still using those components today, well some of them, the cassette player collects dust, and I rarely listen to the radio. But the CD player and integrated amp work great. I am currently investigating downloaded music and trying to put togehter components to accomplsih that and get same or better quality than CD player. Also listen to music through Beyrdynamic DT 990 (600ohm) headphones. Sorry for the memory lane thing...Current occupation is managing group of Risk Control Inspectors. I am a Fire Protection Engineering technologist.

Hi all, i am new to the world of computer audio and I am wanting to start using my laptop as my main source of music.I was thinking of the following set up and would like to know if this is going to work and provide decent quality sound, ie: better than mp3. I am not sure how all the different resolutions work etc. But have downloaded and played some higher resolution classical music that sounded good but had some annoying cliks and electronic sounds in it. My thinking is the addition of an external DAC and headphone amp/preamp will cure this? Thanks for any advice, or suggestions. Computer: Dell Inspiron 17 (2007) DAC: Arcam rDC kw - need to purchase Headphone and pre amp: Woo Audio WA3 - need to purchase Headphones:Beyerdynamic DT 990 (600 ohms) I have approx $1,000 budget for the DAC and Headphone Amp Larry
