  1. I've seen many of the same titles at HDTracks at other shops online at much higher prices. Part of it is probably due to their American market vs. the European (which may have built-in taxes). Nonetheless, hi-res is HDTracks' claim to fame, so it's important for them to be seen as a leader, not just another iTunes wannabe. My guess is that they know that the growth of the hi-res download market would be slowed if prices were too high. Anyone recall how much the record companies fought Steve Jobs about $0.99/track? That said, there's a recent spate of Warner Music Group releases at HDTracks in only 24/192 at $25 -- maybe the higher bit rate was the only way they could snag those titles, with the promise of a better premium for the record companies. Whatever the case, $25 is close to other shops, and the rate of releases has been accelerating at HDTracks lately (Xmas notwithstanding), so it's good news for everyone.
  2. Apparently, her last effort Director's Cut was recorded analogue, and it wouldn't surprise me if this one was, either. It sounds great. I'm not a huge KB fan, but this is a nice album. As mentioned above, the slower tempo and longer tracks certainly work in its favor.
