  1. Well for an amp I decided on the AVA mod Dynaco St-70 or ultimate 70. I'll be on the lookout for the speakers everyone mentions. We have a good paradigm dealer so when I get some cash and build my amp than I'll make sure to try those out and see what else I can find! How much does the amp matter? Should I see if I can convince the paradigm guy to let me hook my u70 up to the speakers and try them out before I buy or would whatever they have with a similar power level suffice/?
  2. I listen to a lot of music in my room. My pc is on the other side of the room from where I do my listening but all my music starts from my pc. Is there any remote controller (like a tv remote kind of thing) that would allow me to change songs (just forward and backward) and play/pause music without getting up? Pretty much just need a wireless device that has a forward/backward and play/pause button. Also I play everything through foobar but I don't think that matters
  3. Is there a beginners guide to understanding amp specs? Both headphone and stereo speaker amps? Also is there anything similar for headphones and speakers? So many numbers! I don't know what is average/good/bad for anything and I also don't know the pro's/cons of any of these numbers. Everything that google has shown me so far is for Car audio which seems to be slightly different than What I need.
  4. This seemed like a great recommendation at first, but the more I read the headphone amp seemed a little underpowered, I couldn't really roll tubes, and If I already have a DAC than I'm really paying about $1000 or ($800) for a bookshelf speaker amp. Any suggestions on a way to better than that?
  5. Looking for a tube amp and speakers for under $1500. I just need to know where to start looking and to figure out what to look for more than anything. A little about myself. I live in Canada. I'm just starting off with audio stuff, but I'm used to playing with camera stuff (a hobby which seems almost as expensive as audio stuff). Do most people buy speakers local or do alot order online? I listen to pretty much everything except for country, but I don't need a ton of bass (hence I'm not looking for a sub). Everything will probably be played from a computer but I'm going to pick up a DAC/headphone amp, so that should work as a DAC/preamp for whatever set up i get. Finally its not for a really big room (think a fairly large bedroom kind of thing). Like I said any advice/links on what to look for/where to buy would be great. Thanks, Chris
