    Sure,
    *******@yahoo.com
Also, in Itunes 12.x, preference>advanced>itunes media folder, I want to move my itunes library to my d2 #1 and rip via xld directly to it. I don't have an option from the pulldown menu as my d2 #1 is not there (although it is on the desktop so it is mounted). I also don't know how to choose it to be the destination of the rips. Lastly, since CCC only let me choose a source and a destination, how does one rip to both external hdd's simultaneously?
    Sorry to be ignorant.

Thanking you ahead of time for your assistance.
The only way I'm going to relax is:
    1. several Pilsners in succession
    2. 1/2 bottle of a decent Pinot Noir
    3. heavy drugs
    4. getting this electronic rubik's cube up and running
I'm aiming for #4. Let me know what forum you post on and I'll follow the trail. sb

THE WHOLE THING. I'm frozen with computer paralysis.
Yes, I'm planning on ripping 450-500 redbook cd's to my music library (d2 #1) & my backup (d2 #2). Using AIFF.
Plan to use itunes and probably A+, but will rip for now and manage playback when I get a USB-Spdif converter. So for now, I'll obsess over the set up.I have xld and CC loaded. Named my external HD's. Not sure how to put library on HD #1 and mirror it to HD#2.
Also, you had some specific ideas for a format to label the music with (that /%A......stuff).
I'm concerned re: having two or three copies of albums/cuts all over the place. Your thoughts on whether Itunes should organize the library, and if so, how. If not, how to organize (xld?).
Lots of things on xld I don't understand...C2?, correction offset?, burst vs. paranoia vs. secure, (no, wait, I understand paranoia!).
Screenshots, if you have them, would be great. As you can tell from my questions, my ducks are flying all over the place.

    Hi Paul,
    1st post.
Just getting started with comp. audio. Hardware set up (2014 Mini, USB Pioneer optical drive, (2) Lacie d2 TB drives.
Now completely flumoxed by xld/Carbon Copy/ even itunes. Didn't you publish a tutorial on these forums on setups of the above, at one time? I can't find it. If it exists, (and is very basic), could you direct me to it? S Baker

Hi Paul, I posted one but I hadn't gotten feedback yet: I would be most appreciative if you do:
I just have the SB but I don't have any DAC or Amp or Speakers. I'm not looking for an expensive (great, great, great) system. Just one that is OK and doesn't take me to the bank.
PeachTree DAC*IT + SB .....which NAD Amp? Does it need to be an integrated NAD Amp?
are there any other DACs that you like similar in price to the PeachTree?
    Thanks
    Jeannette

  8. Allright- whose the most amusing wise guy that loaded a picture of FangFace into my profile picture? Whomever it was, thanks! I rather like him!

The Amazing Mystery of the Moon

How can the size of the moon possibly change? And why only the moon? What is uniquely special about it?

I think the primary reason is the phone is using the ethernet jack as its power supply instead of a wall wart. This way, when a fire (in a chemistry department, a significant concern) takes out the power, I can't call 911, and also precludes a conventional ethernet switch. This is called progress.
Comon now- actually your phone will probably stay up during a power outage, because the switches should be on a UPS designed to stay up

Audio Evolution 2013 - Part 1.5 Update

by Paul R on 05-29-2013 at 01:35 PM
It takes significant time to really study and learn any audio product, at least it does for me. So I have been venturing into the world of tubes seeking a particular sound that is very enjoyable to me. And of course, I have been trying to do so on the cheap. I would not be me if I did not at least try!

Try#1 - Audio by Van Alstine Transcendence DAC8. Picked up relatively inexpensively on Audiogon, and figured, why not? This is a big box, easily identified as "craftsman" work

Audio Evolution 2013 - Part One. My take on Audiophilia

by Paul R on 02-25-2013 at 12:02 AM
PART ONE- THE THEORY
I finally admitted to myself how much I hate spending money.

Truly, I make Scrooge McDuck look like a spend thrift. Yet high quality, good sounding, gear costs a lot of money. A conundrum! A rock and a hard place! A Catch-22!

A darned nuisance.

I want the very best sound I can get while spending the least amount of money I can, and ending up with something that I am proud of.

Macbook Died - Long Live the Mac Mini

by Paul R on 12-15-2012 at 11:54 PM
I replaced a dying Macbook today with a brand new Mac Mini, stock from the Apple store. Sounds great, no kidding!

Just running straight iTunes for now, and enjoying the vast improvement in sound quality! I was considering building one of the new C.A.P.S. servers, but decided I didn't want to wait a few more weeks till all the versions of the new C.A.P.S. servers are published. Not at all sorry - zero buyer regret.

Now just waiting to see J. River publish on the Mac. Might
