Really big show (thank you Ed Sullivan) ... Anyway, if you're interested in the click-by-click, you might be best served by hitting up the Archive. Everything lists out there, in reverse chronological order. Enjoy.

Rmaf 2012

by Part-Time Audiophile on 10-20-2012 at 10:14 PM
This was an insanely huge show. 174 rooms and only 2.5 days to walk it. If you started at one end, chances are you'd only make it about half way by Sunday. It was nuts!

I blew through 95% of the show on Friday, just for pics. Sat was all longer sit-to's and I was gone by Sat night (family stuff).

Anyway, the reviews, pics and notes are coming, albeit slowly. I mean, this is a part-time gig, after all. More over time ....

I think this is part of the problem, but not all of it. But for whatever it's worth, everything you see at a brick and mortar is bought and paid for. No loaners. It isn't cost-effective for the vendor -- how many loaners would they have to have out? How many dealers could they support? Apparently, this isn't viable.

Digital updates and the joy of analog

by Part-Time Audiophile on 12-04-2011 at 03:29 PM
King Rex did in fact ship a U-Power and a UD384 and now I need to find some time to slot it in. I really like that battery pack -- however that review ends up, that widget might just have to stick around to drive the power leg of my Acoustic Revive USB-SP cable.

Burson Audio also sent me a DA-160. Nice DAC! It got a bit rattled in the shipment, however, so that one went back. Still working on out what and when the replacement will be.

In the meantime, the Berkeley Pair

In the pipeline

by Part-Time Audiophile on 11-22-2011 at 06:04 PM
Got some new stuff coming in, which is always fun.

First up, some King Rex stuff. A UD384 w/ U-Power pack. Christing at King Rex is really excited about this product and thought I should take a look. Who am I to say no to that?

Next, Burson is sending me their new head-amp/DAC combo, the HA-160DS. I don't have a good head amp (other than the one that drives my Stax, but that's not exactly non-Stax friendly), so this is awesome. If this works out, I'm thinking "new
