Yes, and is the way I normally listen to DSDs. Both the SOtM dX-USB HD converter and the QuteHD can handle 176.4kHz over Toslink.

Mac optical only goes as high as 96. My USB converter can send an optical signal (including 192) to my DAC without issue .. sounds good too.
